Red Bull RB10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

20.3.1 .... a camera or camera housing...
For clarity; I think that's an either or not an either/or/neither, but I guess that's another potential loophole!

And
20.3.4 ...passing through the centre of the camera lens. ... does not intersect
It could be changed to mandate the whole camera lens is unobstructed from the front AND add an exclusion to limit how much of the screen it taken up by bodywork to prevent a long tunnel vision camera port the width of the lens.

Or, just mandate a bodywork exclusion in the quadrant above and in front of the camera...

I heard them talking about this on the F1 Gobal stream (BBC commentry i believe)

There is clearly a crease in the body work and a visible gap as well, right in the place where the cooling outlet was during pre season tests. Obviously still some heat issues in that area. I wonder if there is a comparison between Vettels and Ricciardo's car, to see if they both have any damage?

i know it's a bit late, but all the purple dots are aluminium rivets, either side of the screw hole, holding an anchor nut on to the carbon probably something very close to this

Allow me to repost 20.3.1 in its entirety:
All cars must be equipped with five positions in which cameras or camera housings can be fitted. Referring to Drawing 6, all cars must carry (i) a camera in position 4 and (ii) a camera or camera housing in positions 2 (both sides), 3 and either 1 or 5.

Any decision as to whether a camera or camera housing is fitted in those positions will be by agreement between the relevant Competitor and the Commercial Rights Holder
The way I understand it is:
- Position 4 must carry a LIVE camera
- Position 2 must have two camera cases
- Position 3 must have one camera case
- Either position 1 or 5 must have one camera case

Thus, "by agreement between the relevant Competitor and the Commercial Rights Holder", it is possible to have ONLY ONE live camera (roll hoop), all the other being dummies.

Yes, this has been the established practice for years.

Could someone explain how mounting the cameras in the nose is legal?

Is it because they are mounted in the correct area just inverted?

With that camera the S-Duct makes more sense now. There is a new bulge where the cameras sit below the vanity panel where in testing there was a flat surface.

Also very surprised to see the RedBull Packaging exposed so early into the season o.O

Please go back to the last couple of pages. It's already been heavily discussed.
