Surely the map is created by the team and not the engine supplier?

I think they need to redesign the front jack. Or perhaps they are deliberately snipping off the nose :D

I said this in preseason testing that teams with the 'ant eater' nose would have problems with the front jack. Didn't this also occur in testing, where the nose was damaged? It is worrying seeing how easy it broke off. If a driver loses this entire part of the nose, will they have to pit for a new one as they will then be gaining performance and the car wouldn't meet the maximum nose height at the end of the race?

Ah, come on, don't take it personal, don't get too humble. Everybody reads/reacts the way they wish. If you have an insight that you think is correct just share it, maybe you're wrong, maybe you're right, that doesn't really matter.

I can't say your idea is (in)correct, but I liked the creative thinking.

I am not too worried, I just don't want to get in the way.

Meanwhile, I wonder if anyone wants to read my ideas about the need for a new generation of wheelnuts (literally)? I am wondering if threaded nuts are outdated; the regulations only call for a "fastener", with specific maximum diameter, but nowhere does it say "screw thread" or "nut". If you could develop a push / pull fastener, or even one that operated automatically upon activation/detecting various events, you could remove the need for those Paoli guns and knock another second off pitstops.

12.8
Wheel assembly :

12.8.1
The only parts which may be physically attached to the wheel in addition to the tyre are
surface treatments for appearance and protection, valves for filling and discharging the tyre,
****wheel fasteners****, balance weights, drive pegs, tyre pressure and temperature monitoring
devices and spacers on the inboard mounting face of identical specification on all wheels for
the same axle. [So you could integrate/attach the fastener into the wheel rim; it doesn't even need to spin].

12.8.2
The wheel must be attached to the car with a single fastener. The outer diameter of the fastener must not exceed 105mm and the axial length must not exceed 75mm. [No problem here, you can have a fastener, it just doesn't need to be threaded, or even seperate from the wheel]

12.8.4
Devices which are used to fit or remove wheel fasteners may only be powered by
compressed air or nitrogen. [Here I would argue that a smart hub, with some kind of internal locking device, doesn't remove the fastener - the fastener falls off when the hub is activated, and the hubs could be activated centrally by the driver or team, and re-lock as soon as they sense a fastener in the right position]

Here is the second broken nose, it broke during the pitstop. 'Cause the Mclaren has not fixed this, it could be done on purpose?

sure, but if happens again I'm sure they will be told to fix it

wasn't it something similar last years with Lotus? breaking the floor, first time force majeure, second time penalty

I don't see what benefit they would gain from breaking this, Bizarre claim!

hmmm... Didn't we see that hole on the nose in Bahrain testing, on Magnussen's car?

Looks neater to me. Maybe they decided that adding an easily detachable cap to the nose would prevent bigger damage to it in case it gets hit on the track or in the pits...

Maybe they'll knock it off "accidentally" during pitstops in hotter places in the future.
