Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Looks like A new nose but not THE new nose that appeared in the render. To me it seems as though they reduced the length as much as they can and have decided that with the shorter length (even if it is only a little bit) it is still worth doing.

Is that the new nose? It looks pretty nice! With that little material, no wonder it took several crash tests to pass.
You sure it's new? It looks like the same as always to me...
stop with the new nose, it's still the same

Nose tips are a bit different, right?

It is a new nose tip for sure, it sticks out a little bit more. Just take a real close look.

I agree, the top one in this photo definitely sticks out more where the nose joins the wing on the right hand side of it. I'm usually wrong on this sort of thing though. :) The wings are swapped compared to the image in the last post so it might be missing from that one, I don't know.

Is the exhaust manifold a simple log type instead of a more traditional equal length system?

"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe." Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Nice pics.
Very clearly still the old nose. It might not even matter so much now that software can account for dollops of time. A lot of updates this season will be invisible brake by wire improvements, all done in code.

Anyone know what the fairings on the rear wheels are?
