Because it's a low downforce circuit?

Yes i understand that aswell, but i was more thinkin seeing as they havent run it low df before on this track, and now with even less DF to start with they go with even lower. Thats what i wonderd.

Must be a question of aero balance. This year the rear of the cars have lost more DF than the front. That would be why you run lower DF on front wings this year.

It looks like they either rain with a different top plane, or they actually pulled off the gurney flap and then cut some of it off as well. Wonder if they think that they are going to get killed on the straights so they want to drop some DF to be quicker and less likely to be overtaken by anyone with a Merc/Ferrari engine in the back?

This is exactly what was speculated during the SkyF1 broadcast during FP2. They are some 10kph down on the straights in comparison to Mercs.

Was that cascade-free FW even used in FP?

Yeah new rear wing + new wing central support (also it serves as "drs" linkage support). That support it is much more similar like other teams are using. It sits underneath leading edge of main plane and goes vertically down toward bottom attach point and make nice L shape (from sideview). Interesting modification.

That could mean no big separation worries and no big disturbances in -lower pressure zone - and its flow conditioning for easier aerodynamics in central section of wing. Flow-wis also approve that. Really nice trick for LOW DF or Mid downforce track demands.

First iteration of that support was quite unique on the grid and its reimplementation on "shalower" flap could confirm that. I m quite convinced that first iteration better interacted under yaw/pich/roll effect and better serves for high DF demands. Perfect thinking of AERO department in RB garage.

This looks like a Monza Spec wing :? . Rb running too much downforce and need more topspeed.

They have an additional element this year and a bit more AoA, but they do look almost the same
