no confirmation of the problem yet, this is what Alonso had to say
Every lap that we went out the car seemed to be slower and slower on the straights so we need to check if there is something damaged or if there is something we could do better tomorrow maybe in the floor of the car or whatever or if there was something in the electric motor that was not perfectly combined.

"But it is true that doing a 34.2 in Q2 then in Q3 with less fuel and better track conditions to do 34.9 is not ideal when it counts. But it is the way it is, tomorrow starting from the clean side in ninth we can still do a good race. We need a good start and a good strategy."

With such smooth power delivery no wonder they are so much in front.
Ferrari engine is overreving in each corner ...

Just did a quick acceleration comparison between 2014 and 2013 pole position laps:

2013 W04 100-200 kmh 2.3s, 200-300 kmh - 6.1s
2014 W05 100-200 kmh 2,1s, 200-300 kmh - 4.7s

Over revving in each corner? Are you referring to wheelspin?

Because Vettel won't win?
lol ahm, no. Hamilton will jump nico at the start and then drive away from him while everyone else behind them will be too busy saving fuel and tires to perform any kind of racing.
If he has a bad start like he did in Malaysia he will for sure get jumped.

Actually Kimi's lap looked quite smooth compared to what he's looked all weekend, not too much sudden wheelspin and corrections.

The team have said a few times that they'll let their drivers race each other, it will be interesting to see for how long though.

My guess, whoever is in the lead after the 2nd stop gets to lead the procession home

here is the speed trap from alonso

Code: Select all

                      S1 S2 S3 (Finish line)

Q1 240 259 283

Q2 240 260 286

Q3 (last flyer) 239 260 282
"As for the Spaniard, he looked on the pace in the first two session, but did not get the most out of the car in the final part and had to settle for tenth place with aq 1.34.992."

Alonso says "he was down on power", Ferrari press says "he didn't get most out of the car". Interesting.

just keep in mind that 2014. needs a conservation-charge-up lap to be able to do this, 2013. could do that in every lap

I'd like to see the boost button there though instead of what they have now

I doubt Hamilton will jump Rosberg at the start, very dirty on the other side of the grid, although if there is sand blown across in the day it won't make much difference. I hope hamilton pushes rosberg though, I want to see a race not a procession.

Reaction time & wheel spin will have a much bigger effect than being on the dirty side, anyone of the first 4 cars could get a flyer, that first corner will be very tricky though on full fuel

The 2nd, 3rd & 4th row battle is looking good, any one of these could end up on the podium, i'm really looking forward to this race

This is typical alonso, when he does well, its all him, and he had to overcome all odds, when he performs badly, it was the car. Every. Single. Time.
