Bahrain in-season testing, day 2: They are running with strakes on the wing endplates of the rear wing, first time that I'm seeing this on the VJM07:

Are they testing new sidepods with more undercut or it's just illusion due to the absence of sahara logo?
Could very well be the case but I'm not noticing much of a difference because of the blackness.

Matt Somerfield spotted an other update:
Force India VJM07 the team have made a minor change adding some small winglets either side of the crash structure to aid in the upwash of the airflow. This is similar to solutions we have already seen McLaren and Mercedes adopt.

New diffuser too. Can't believe I've been looking at all these pictures and just realised I know one of their new mechanics, time to stop just paying attention to the Carbon Fiber.

Can someone explain how does this help cooling??

It's a translation error from google.

What Green basically is saying is that the VJM07 has a chassis that doesn't need additional cooling gills, they don't have to open up bodywork for cooling unlike many other teams at the grid. This helps the aerodynamics of the car during races in hot temperatures compared to others (additional cooling slots creates drag, disturbs airflow, etc.).

Thanks for that link, it provides a lot of information! A lot of new parts for the GP of China and for the rest of the season from what I can read. (New cooling lay-out with less cooling capacity will be introduces in Canada. They basically have a chassis that suffers from overcooling and is too draggy. The current chassis is build too conservative according to Green.)

What is the thinking about the rear end of the force india, the area surrounding the exhaust seems to be considerably chunkier than other cars?

I believe those lower picture (2nd) its from preseason testing. Firstly they here were testing air-air intercooler and finnaly they decide to alterate from Melbourne to race air-water-air one (1st pic) . But could i be wrong.

I'm totally not an aerodynamicist so I like to know the answer to this question as well. All I know from reading the articles is that they have overdone it with the cooling of this car, they will introduce a more tightly packaged chassis in Canada.

FI and Williams both have done the sensible Thing and erred on the save side with their cooling package ...and have hauled an awful lot of Points in those first races when others struggled for reliability.

The clever bit here is they have bagged those Points AND know exactly how much cooling capacity they can get rid off which is Efficiency and less weight without sacrifying reliability....

How could they start overweight into testing and now already be in a Position of having 10Kg of Ballast....I guess their test layout was even more on the safe side?

They are talking about reducing the drag, does that mean they will be able to achieve more top speed ?, they allready are faster than everyone else on the straights.

They think Williams is faster but yeah in Bahrain they were faster.

I think that it is more likely that the hub is cast (with the model printed and lost).
