Steve McQueen's Ferrari Lusso - for sale at Christie's

Post

Now,

I wouldn't mind getting behind the wheel of this, having that special someone sitting beside me, a couple of pristine spring days and thousands of miles of undisturbed roads to cover - all to myself. Here's to daydreams, fulfilled or not:

Oooh, never saw a Lusso in black. Pretty car.

I think I can swing it if I can sell a few things first, any takers on these items?

1 house, Southern California, 3200 sq. ft--$475,000
1 '01 Toyota Pickup 7,500
1 '02 volvo S80 11,500
1 '71 semi-ex-wife, cute, good cook and mother, offers challenging arguments on any subject Make Offer

On second thought, I'll just watch 'Rendezvous' again.

See, you spoil all the fun! I just went back and watched it, and the stripes on the road really aren't clipping by that fast. Thanks, Tom

no disrespect for the Lusso, but it looks terribly similar to the '69 Mustang..in that colour..almost...of course its better than the Mustang,,miles ahead.

I'd take them both, but the Shelby has a little more appeal because of the Caroll Shelby link.

You know what, Ford has been lying to us all this time about the power its Mustangs produce. .in season 9 of TG, Hammond checked the true bhp of the Shelby GT500 and found out that it actually produces 440bhp...and the GT290 produces just 240bhp!.
..another thing i disliked was the speedo's max reading in the new Z06, it was 320mph  ..what theheck were they thinking when they were making it?

Actually, Ford is not lying. The differences between the rated horse power and the power at the rear wheels is the power it takes to drive the transmission, prop-shaft, differential and rear wheels. The rated horsepower is measured at the flywheel. The power reading on a chassis dyno such as Hammond used, is referred to as Road Horsepower. Road horsepower is always lower due to the losses I mentioned. If Hammond had a different background than DJ, he woulld have known this.

As for the 320 speedo on the Z06, if you look closely enough, you'll find that it is 320 KM/H, equal to 198.4 mph which is reasonable for the car.

Ya..i know that. But that difference is not as large as 60bhp from the engine crankshaft to the rear half shafts and on to the road....its less than half of that..unless Ford's transmission is extremely inefficeient.
The speedo is indeed limited to 320kmph..i stand corrected..it was the fact while JC was testing the Z06 by taking it down the main straight, it seemed to me as if the speedo was in mph, coz JC was telling the speed in mph.
