Is this the exact same front wing...that passed the crash test... with the flexing mechanics?WaikeCU wrote:Hope that kerb riding doesn't cause the front wing to break. No. The reason it failed the crash test was because the wing is not part of the nose at all according to the FIA.Glyn wrote:Is this the exact same front wing...that passed the crash test... with the flexing mechanics?WaikeCU wrote:Hope that kerb riding doesn't cause the front wing to break. Is this movement one of the core reasons why it failed so many times.
very cool, I'm looking forward to the result...though it would be even cooler if they mounted the camera close to the ground, like right in the center of the front wing or maybe on the nose...though since that very much upsets the aerodynamics that's probably nothing one would do at a real race weekend where you want as much relevant information as possible, but rather at one of their filming days.RicerDude wrote:3D on-board footage?Platinet wrote:Seems like there are 2 GoPro cams in there
Yup, but now its the W05, so that makes it special.Juzh wrote:Isn't this end plate flex thing around for some time now? I remember seeing it on the ferrari (?) last year quite frequently.
Do we know how much a front wing weighs? I mean even if it's not a mass damper, it would sound very reasonable to turn it into one, no? So why not put some weights on there?Emerson.F wrote:Rubbish. It lacks the mass (Weight) for it to be functional as as damper.Coefficient wrote:Mass Damper
In fact, we even saw last race, Mercedes changed chunks of the ends of their wing to be made out of metal, instead of CF. They would only do that if they were trying to ballast the ends of the wing.thomin wrote:Do we know how much a front wing weighs? Or to prevent damage to the wing. Audi did so on their R15+ and R18 as the carbon would get damaged over the course of the race and performance would deteriorate.beelsebob wrote:In fact, we even saw last race, Mercedes changed chunks of the ends of their wing to be made out of metal, instead of CF.
