I think you are asking too much regarding a "new " switch on the steering - major engeneering required.

The biggest development will be the new paint work / stickers for whichever sponsor they will use for Austria.

Honda buying a 50% share. I thought I had read that Ron wanted to own a majority share and was trying to raise the capital to purchase the required shares? And Mercedes tried to increase its 40% in 2009 and that was stopped by RD.

As I have posted before, this is the ideal opportunity for McLaren & Honda to get their own B Team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [-o< [-o<
they have other problems than that. And it is too expensive.
What's the current regulations? Do teams have to built their own cars or can they "buy" the chasis from other manufacturers.
In reagrds to drivers: If they can't get Alonso they should push for Hülkenberg really. Time to ditch Button for good.

I guess they have to build their own car.Torro Rosso which used to use RB-designed cars had to build their own cars recently.

Well maybe not that unique :wtf:

Is it just mean or do other people almost only think at the Mclaren days when they think of Honda formula one history. Ive more or less totally forgotten abou the BAR/Honda time of the 00es.
I alwayws want to remmber Honda as winners, not as beckmarkers/average.

Seems to be nothing more than a rumour with no real basis:

No one even knows where the story's coming from.

According to motorsport-total, Ron Dennis is desperate to find and investor because the Bahrenians are willing to sell their shares, so Ron has to find someone big, either an automaker or a billionaire, because him and Osjisseh doesn't have the financial power to keep Mclaren at the very end of the development war.

P.S
Such a mistake that he didn't let Daimler to to have the majorities of the shares. We would have been part of the big Mercedes family, with a factory contract, with a car design around the V6 Mercedes, and with Lewis in the team. He shouldn't have take this adventure with Mclaren Automotive, because Mclaren Automotive will never have the force to fill the gap left by the sponsorship shortage in the F1 team. It would take years for Automotive to be at the Ferrari road division level and to redirect resources towards the succes of the F1 team.

Even if Honda doesn't want to buy the shares in the Mclaren Group, they will still pump money in Mclaren Racing. They want Newey Vettel and even Horner at Mclaren, to be sure that Mclaren-Honda will be a succesful team. Honda is offering more money than Ferrari.

That would have meant the end of the McLaren name in favour of the hype about the "silver arrows" returning to F1. The first race win would be lauded as the first win for the team since 1867 or whenever. Remember Red Bull were preceded as WDC and WCC by the team from Brackley, but that has been airbrushed from history now. Can you imagine Dennis letting his life's work disappear like that?

"You" would have been in the F1 bin along with other names that have been usurped by flags of convenience.

Never say never, but that's a bit too optimistic in my eyes. The most important person to capture is Newey, he can lead the aero department. McLaren has a powerful Mercedes engine and should be finishing 3-4 every GP at least in the first part of this season, but the design of the car isn't good enough.
