I always liked webber in F1 , and there have been far worse championsdjos wrote:As a resident hardcore Webber fan (who knew right?), I wonder if Mark could have won the WDC if his RedBull was as reliable as Seb's?
IMO he threw away a WDC on his own by binning his car in the wet in Korea (plus a bad weekend in Abu dahbi), but his luck with KERS overall was horrendous!
Seb seems to have inherited the bad luck now which is highly ironic and Dan is getting perfect cars!
I totally agree, he was great to watch back in the V10 days and regularly put his Jag in grid spots it wasn't capable of maintaining - he was IMO especially epic thru high speed corners and the Bridgestone's suited a constant maximum attack lap after lap unlike the fragile Pirelli's.lebesset wrote:

but when I heard him say that he needed one more win to be champion my heart sank , wanted to say look how button did it , kept his head and racked up the points
big question for me is , how would he have done in this years car instead of ricci ....just great would be my expectation , much more to his style
sigh...djos wrote:As a resident hardcore Webber fan (who knew right?), I wonder if Mark could have won the WDC if his RedBull was as reliable as Seb's?

I said he threw that years WDC away by himself. I'm referring to other years in general, not specifically 2010.Juzh wrote:sigh...djos wrote:As a resident hardcore Webber fan (who knew right?), I wonder if Mark could have won the WDC if his RedBull was as reliable as Seb's?

Add india and singapore and we have 8 mechanical dnfs for vettel and 5 dnfs for webber in their 5 years as team mates.
So.. what else you got?
As you can see from the above posted link they in general had almost identical amount of mechanical and other problems between them, but vettel lost a tonne more points because of them.djos wrote:I said he threw that years WDC away by himself. The issue Webber had was frequent KERS fails in qually putting him down the order before the race had even started.Juzh wrote:

And vettel hasn't? Suzuka 2013? Barcelona 2011?djos wrote:The issue Webber had was frequent KERS fails in qually putting him down the order before the race had even started.Juzh wrote:

Exactly right, it's why all the professional F1 commentators and journo's are now comparing Vettel's luck with ERS with Webber's luck with KERS.SiLo wrote:Webber has a lot more trouble with KERS failing him than Vettel every did. You only have to vaguely pay attention to the previous 4 years to know that.
Nailed it!Webber2011 wrote:I think the whole Webber v's Vettel "luck" discussion is sometimes misunderstood.
If you look simply at the amount of race ending, or even terminal failures at any point of a weekend, for sure they are very similar.
It's when you take into account the intermittent failures that the figures change.
Mark had far more issues that didn't end his race or quali, but definitely hindered his weekend to the point of making a good result harder to achieve.
I think that's why Seb is being referred to as having inherited Mark's luck.
Professional jurnos have a memory of a goldfish as long as it makes a good story. If you actually made the effort to read the link I've posted you'd clearly see they had almost the same amount of kers and other problems.djos wrote:Exactly right, it's why all the professional F1 commentators and journo's are now comparing Vettel's luck with ERS with Webber's luck with KERS.SiLo wrote:Webber has a lot more trouble with KERS failing him than Vettel every did.
