What did the FIA say when you put your concerns to them? Did they give any reasons for why F1 is how it is today?

You have contacted the FIA directly haven't you? You're not really hoping to change F1 just by moaning on an Internet forum, are you?
Some people were banned from the FIA Facebook page when they criticized the 2014 engines.

The FIA isn't interested in listening to dissent. Nice try though.

banned from the FIA Facebook page? you mean that forum-member's post which was rude and destructive and got deleted... so what?

2014 isn't too slow. 2015 will be even better. and they moaners, whiners and nostalgia-induced dreamers can dream on.

and why all these pseudo Sergio Zyman approaches of explaining the product F1 in this thread?
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

It is also worth mentioning that this little inconvenient truth destroys his theory: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/113945
In a bid to ensure F1 gets it right with any tweaks to the sound, the FIA has confirmed that it has tasked sound specialists to help it make progress.

I guess my question is; if you say a 1.6l v6 hybrid is not that answer, does that mean you are done with Formula One? And if so, why rail against what we have to the people that have accepted the fact that there has been huge investment in these new engines, and they are not going away? Shouldn't you just accept the change, or go do something else? Does anyone really think they are suddenly going to announce something new for next year? No, they aren't. So when does the complaining become pointless?
No one is resisting change which is something you've been unable to comprehend for months on end now. There's a difference between change for the sake of change, and meaningful change. You'd find most of us think F1 needs to change, just not in the manner it opts to change in.

Those of us who are dissenting, are simply point out the rank stupidity of this formula as a whole along with all of the claims that go with it. In addition, we're looking at the larger picture, something that has been flying over many heads. Instead of adding to the sea of misinformation that some are so wont to do, we're clarifying things, and pointing out illogical things.

Oh I know plenty more who were banned when they pointed out truths the FIA didn't care for.

That was a dog and pony show if there was ever one stephen. Such an outstanding individual such as yourself should know this, no?
What I know is that; if anyone produces something that refutes a blanket statement you make, such as the FIA isn't interested in listening to the fans dissent; you then resort to putting an inconvenient fact down. It is basically your MO.

And as you can see, there are other perspectives, right here in this thread. But of course you will put those other perspectives down as being foolish or whatever.

Did you seriously believe that trumpet attachment was a good faith effort by Formula 1 to address the lack of sound?

Yes I believe the FIA has heard the dissent and is seeing what it can do. You see I believe this because I am not a cynical and jaded person, that has to create an "us vs. them" mentality simply because I don't like necessary change. Because that is what F1 is doing, making necessary changes, just changes that you hate. Plenty of people understand why the sport has had to go in this direction, it's just a fact that you for some reason can't handle. So what you then do is paint with a broad brush and call hundreds of thousands of people, millions even, "fools" and "fanboys". Any spiritual guru out there, such as Wayne Dyer or Deepak Chopra have dedicated dozens of books on the topic of what you are doing, and they all agree that it is toxic, and immature.

I've never said frozen-spec V8s make any sense, only that V6T hybrids aren't the answer. They utilize off the shelf technologies so automakers can claim "road relevance" as if such a thing is actually meaningful.

And I agree with you that the lack of parity is an issue, but severely restricted testing and a seasonal PU freeze don't exactly help teams bridge the gap to the front, yanno? It could be even worse in coming years if certain teams get their wish for mid-season chassis freezes.

As I've said elsewhere, this season effectively ended when Mercedes homologated its PU back in February. The grands prix are but a formality.

Maybe that wouldn't be so bad if the cars were a bit more entertaining in and of themselves. I'll never grow tired of watching or hearing stuff like this (action starts at around 14:00, and the initial safety car period ends at around 25:00).
I agree with most of this, but you cleverly avoided to reply my question :P

Wayne and old dear Deepak aren't what I would call positive people. They actively engage in the exploitation of of their fellow human beings for the almighty dollar by selling them on ideas that can be thought up by anyone with a brain. The positive thinking cult is dangerous since most of the strictest adherents have created a world in which they are unable to cope, and comprehend immutable truths. They essentially try to bend reality into something else in order to delude themselves. Ideas are free remember. Kind of like how F1 used to be before the FIA technical regulations essentially tried to clamp down on free-thought technical ideas that Max Mosley abhored.

Stephen you already created an "us vs. them" mentality when you arbitrarily tried to dictate how people not in lockstep (or is that goose step?) with your mentality, are cynical and jaded people.

This post doesn't deserve a response. And the goose stepping comment is just another example of how ridiculous your comments are. I'm done debating with someone that does nothing but hurl insults at everyone and everything.

Anyway, we're less than 2 weeks away from the 24 Hours of Le Mans --the undisputed pinnacle of motor sport in the 21st century-- where we will see cars being driven on the limit, refueling, and all sorts of varied technical approaches. I highly recommend all serious race fans tune it at some point to watch...after all it is 24 hours.
