Once again I am in agreement with JT. I don't think I can add anything except that I think some of you have very misguided ideas about bizness

It doesn't need to be demonstrated, it's a well known fact.
For some unknown reason, that remark reminded me of two things:

1. A conversation with a "creationist".

2. A conversation with Homer Simpson.

There will now be a short interval in tonight's performance .....

I think most people would agree that F1 is the pinnacle of spending spectacular amounts of cash on ever decreasing marginal gains. One could say the F1 circus is probably the most glamorous and exotic . Of course we shouldn't forget the honour of being head and shoulders above any other motorsport for the world-series-extracting-money-from-fat-wallets-in-countries-with-dubious-autocratic-governments, it's only beaten by the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.

However, F1 has a very restrictive rule book and prohibits any technical innovation other twiddly aero bits. Admittedly it has just taken on a fantastically complicated engine formula that looks to be very innovative, but in reality all teams are restricted to a mandated and needlessly complex schematic.

Now let's get back to the main performance, ie Haas. Is the proposition viable and how could it be delivered?

OK... So with Haas delaying until 2016, what options do they have for an engine supply? I really REALLY think that a tech partnership with McLaren (everything from the bulkhead back) running the Honda would be of mutual benefit to everybody.

What are the testing rules for a new entrant?

A nice summary, Richard! =D> Mirrors my own thinking.

I wouldn't be surprised if new teams are prohibited from doing any testing until they score at least one championship point. That would be in accordance with most other policies in the sport.

I can see 'reports' today that Nicolo Petrucci is being related to Haas, which is not true.

Don't you just love it when journalists conflate vaguely related facts into one narrative?
Forbes wrote:Guenther Steiner, a former technical director of four-time champions Red Bull Racing, has been hired as team principal.
That's not quite as impressive as "Steiner, a former TD who had never won a race"

I'd say a mashup with Honda unless BMW, VAG, or others jump in the mix.

Steiner added that former Indy Racing League and NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart, who co-owns Haas' NASCAR outfit, would not be involved in the F1 project.

"Tony wants to earn money in racing, and Gene wants to spend it," Steiner said.

Funniest line I've read all week...

USA are not to be underestimated. They are responsible for the existence of the very first carbon fibre monocoque chassis designed by then McLaren's John Barnard. In the 90's CART suspension patented by a canadian, that reactive 3rd spring with a triangular central crank came to Formula One, experienced by USA racing first hand. I think Chapparal were playing with ground effect when the others were still tinkering with suspension. They seem pretty good with experiments and race obsessed. If they are approaching this from small then towards expansion they this could be promising. If they do a Toyota then its going to be short term.

Surprising that all news relating to Haas is associated with Ferrari when it would be wiser to chase after Mercedes for the engine.

Haas is also looking to buy the maximum components from another team and force India and williams are good candidates to fill in the role of a supplier than Ferrari.

People still believe in this publicity stunt, I for myself would not have seen the Haas machinery without it?

In some CNC circles Haas machines are said to be very bulky not as high tech as the other top brands so I can sorta see why Haas wants to dispel that notion.
