Usually up by more than a tenth tho, usually about a 3/10 to half sec gap then they remove the chain in FP2
If consistently being 7/10ths faster than you is a "mind game", then yes Jenson, Lewis was playing "games" with you.

Maybe it is not such a bad idea that they might get rid of one of the Friday Practice sessions starting next year.

I have seen the same excitement after Malaysia FP2, then Mercedes turned up the wick during FP3 and the gap was one second. Maybe Ferrari is closer, but the gap is too big to close in two weeks time.

I think the gap is bigger than Monaco because this is the best track for Mercedes.

Dude, c'mon. No one is talking about agressive throttle response. They're talking about being more agressive regarding pulling all available performance out of the hardware and agressively searching for lap time.

On a site with mostly English fans? Sure, why not? But, overall, Vettel is easily the most talked about driver of the last five years, probably followed by a fairly close tie of Hamilton and Alonso.

Obviously, but I think most of us are just getting excited at the prospect of Ferrari performing a little better.

The only insight you usually gain from free practice is long run pace. Been like that for years now.

According to Google:
Lewis Hamilton: 17.800.000 results
Michael Schumacher: 13.100.000 results
Fernando Alonso: 7.110.000 results
"just Vettel": 7.050.000
Sebastian Vettel: 3.420.000 results (in line with Jenson Button and about half of Mark Webber's)
It is an anglosaxon world out there ;-)
In most cases, the majority is below the average.
