Sergio Perez has been given a 5-place grid penalty for his coming together with Felipe Massa in the final lap of the Canadian Grand Prix, FIA stewards have announced after the race.

They're still on 3 of most items, which means they're breaking 4-5 parts every 2-3 races on average. With that, it's likely that we'll see them getting penalties 3-7 races from the end of the season, and every second race thereafter, unless Renault sort out their act.
I expect that most Renault teams, rather than eating a 10 place grid drop will actually choose to go to the back of the grid, and change every part of their engine, because that's better than getting a succession of 10 place drops.
Under the last version of the regs for this year I read (not certain it was the latest copy), grid penalties for power units carry over to the next race if they put the driver beyond the back of the grid to prevent teams doing this strategy.
1. No 2. You mean RED BULL-RENAULT team, that enjoys benefits of special, works-team partnership with engine manufacturer? Let's face it, it's also their fault, to the smaller extent ofc. Horner's/Marko's only idea of special preparations for biggest changes in the history of F1 was to have second team with the same engine. Recent successes got into their heads and they thought that that would be enough.
Oh look Maldonado got a reprimand, haha what a good laugh, I wonder what it was for:
- speeding under yellow flags (Rosberg)
- causing two collisions 100% fault (Raikkonen) (same for Monza 2013)
- turning into other driver mid-corner (Webber)
- 2 collisions with Kvyat and Massa (Alonso) - not even a reprimand
- taking other driver out of the race (Button 2014-Raikkonen 2013 Monaco) - not even a reprimand?
No, it was for "not replacing his steering wheel after stopping on track". Good to see that safety and driving standards are very important in F1. Whiting/Warwick were busy lately with local press interviews about Monaco Q3 with some knee jerk reactions like "why don't we extend qualifying by one minute when a yellow flag is shown in the last three minutes?" instead of explaining themselves about continuous, disgraceful application of penalties.
I agree with you about the way penalties are addressed, but replacing the steering wheel after a crash or a force majeure stop is more important than it seems: if the car is stuck in gear there is no way to remove it besides a crane
F1 cars have a neutral button, but it will be difficult to turn without a steering wheel, In this case pastor was well off the track, in fact parked it behind the tyre barriers at a marshal station.
Guess Nico is not 'mentally destroyed' like the arm chair buffs were claiming after 3 races. Good to see it stick it to Hamilton, hope Hamilton crashes out on the first lap.
How about them having a good race and we watching it ? Why would you want one of them to crash and retire on the first lap lol.
The hate...

Cant wait for the fight behind the Mercs, VET vs RIC should be good and the Ferraris coming through the Williams will be awesome. Hoping for a williams podium but i think Bahrain was their best shot :\
I still think Hamilton will win by about 10 seconds today, providing he doesn't have a horrible start, he's just that much faster round this track.
Although I'm sure Nico will have been pouring through the telemetry data with his engineer to find the parts of the track that Hamilton is most likely to challenge him at, because I can't see it being easy for him to get by on the straight. It will help him some but if Hamilton is faster today Nico won't be able to hold him off for 70 laps, even if he can he'll lose out in the pitstops.
What? these guys really put their life on the line to do what they love and so that we can enjoy the sport... how could anyone wish for a crash? I like to see these guys race...the tighter they are (technologically speaking) the more I enjoy the race and see who is the better driver. I hope that Canada lives up to it's good show from previous years. Can't wait to see the first conner... it will be nerve wrecking to watch. I expect that Lewis will out perform Nico on the exit and that Vettel will surprise either one of them. Don't forget about Massa and Fernando back there, they could also make things happen on the start. Race on!
I'm wondering whether Hamilton's first run on q3 would've been enough for pole without Ricciardo in the picture. Does anyone have his sector times from his first q3 run ?

Rosberg was 2 tenths under Bottas at the end of S2 and Hamilton was 3 tenths under but ended the lap .15 down on Nico IIRC so he lost about a quarter of a second behind Daniel when if anything he should have gained time based on previous sessions, I reckon he would have went 1-2 tenths faster than Nico's first lap on his first lap.

Hamilton gets pole by 0,07 - this is this extra something Rosberg is not capable of, unreachable by mortals level, he's "dominating" him again, NR must be destroyed psychologically
Rosberg gets pole by 0,07 - means nothing, Hamilton is still more "naturally talented" (translation: theoretically talented), no psychological effects especially in Canada
edit:
from live on-board Rosberg's lap didn't look perfect, probably gain some lose some type but it seemed over-aggressive.

Jeezes guys, Lewis messed up (he confirmed it himself). Otherwise it would have been another Hamilton pole. Now Nico did the better job. Time to get over it.
Let's have a thrilling race with another double win for merc. Go Hami!
Mercedes AMG + Hamilton => dreamteam!
If you can't beat'em, call Masi!

If that's the case he has been unlucky with traffic... I guess he should've taken more care on his 2nd run.
