he was ~2/10 on average slower than ric troughout q3 and q2. Nothing massive (alo on average 5/10 faster than rai overall), but enough to get kicked out in such a tight pack on a short track. Still I see it as a failure on vettel's part. He just seems resigned to his fate, seemingly not even bothered too much as if he's already given up the fight. It might be he knew last year what was coming and hence his comments he's got nothing more to prove to anybody and to enjoy the success while it lasts. Maybe the kid is affecting him too in some negative way.
Sad state of affairs he's in currently.

What are the chanches of Jenson starting on softs NOT super softs from P11? I can't imagine him starting on the super softs given Mclaren's behaviour on the super softs. As P11 he can chose the tyres, so what do you think, will he chose the softs?

Start on fresh supersofts, get rid of them as soon as possible and then soft and another soft.

I hope that you are wrong. He will follow FI's tactics, by starting on new softs and remain on the track in clean air after the others go to the pits to change the super softs. I really can't imagine not using this strategy. He will kill any strategy advantage he may have when the others will go to the pits.

Hamilton didn't set a time...so he can start with softs? i think they're better with the softs than the supers...if he starts with the softs, he can stay longer while overtaking others to climb up...This might be a blessing in disguise for him.

Very poor show from Lewis, I can't believe he stuffed both laps.

I still think he's in with a shout for 2nd place, the Williams just had the edge on super softs, on softs it's a different story though, the Merc is way ahead. If he gets a decent start he should have enough time to reel them in, Nico will be a long way up the road though - he's gifted him this win.

As I was watching the Sky broadcast they mentioned that perhaps the SS's on the Williams only were working well in quali because they warm up relatively fast for them, but for the race this may be detrimental over the long run. I think tire/pit stop strategy is going to be huge for tomorrow's outcome considering where HAM and ROS are relative to the pack. As a HAM fan I am bummed with 10th, but as a fan of F1 this race should be great!!

Vettel has a kid now, I wonder how much that has shifted his priorities. He has x4 WDCs, could you maintain that level of motivation year after year, always pushing yourself with a kid and wife at home? - I don't know if I could.

Only the very best can maintain a singular focus, I'm thinking Michael Schumacher, Valentino Rossi, Fernando Alonso.

If he gets himself into a state, and allows a team mate to get under his skin, as he did in 2011, he could have another season where he bottles it.

There is no excuse for not having a banker lap in a car which could have had an easy 4th position, even without pushing for those extra few tenths.

We've seen this before with Williams, race pace not living up to qually pace, they do seem to go through tires quick as well.

I'm looking forward to Lewis giving it the full beans tomorrow, the Merc should be super strong up the hill into turn two, the Ferrari & RB should be easy meat for him.

I am staunch Alonso supporter, but I always felt for Massa, and suspected that Ferrari's team dynamics may not always have provided a level playing field for him.
So it is not without a sense of poetic justice that I celebrate his pole here! All the more so as the forced move from Ferrari to Williams appeared to be a downgrade last year...

Yeah I can see this, a bit like China in reverse, but a safety car at the right time could give us a Bahrain round 2 battle.

Lets hope eh, if the Williams get away clean they could hold him up for a few laps, but yes a safety car after 10 / 15 laps to bring it all back together would be a great spectacle
