puh, avoided that one. No ban of tyre warmers in 2015!

I could see a lot of sets of tyres being accidentally left near the heaters in the garage. Or outside in the blazing sun, with a mirror or two just happening to be nearby shining on the backside of 'em...

It's confirmed it's not going to happen ;)

Pirelli can make anything they want - all they need is to be asked. But apparently not tyres that don't need warmers?

Old Hembrey again eh? I'm going to start calling him "Cleopatra" - queen of de-nile.

Which is why I said 'could', not 'can' ;)

It will always be beneficial to start a run with your tires closer to their operating temperature than ambient. The behavior of the compound will always be engineered to perform optimally in a temperature window in line with what they will see at speed, and so they will always perform sub optimally outside of that window - for example, ambient temperature.

Here we go. So over in the the other thread we have peeps saying F1 needs to be road relevant now, hence the new engines and desire to attract more manufactures. What is relevant about tyres that need to be warmed before using?

No wonder this sport is confused. You guys can't have it both ways.

You could try to heat up your normal tyres in the winter instead of using snow tyres when there is no snow.

No seriously: tyres that last less than 100km aren't road relevant anyway. F1 can't be 100% road relevant.

Engines that rotate with 10000rpm+ are also NOT ENTIRELY road relevant but just up to a point

So we can be 30% relevant? How about 52.6% relevant? You're either relevant, or you're not.

What's demonstratable about tyre warmers on road cars? What's significant about that?

Unless F1 can prove it has significant and demonstrable bearing on the matter at hand (road vehicle manufacturing), then anything else is malarky - IMO.

Couldn't the teams just go around this rule by heating up the garages and have some other room for mechanics? :D
