After a lot of talk concerning driver ethics in overtaking manouvers, I ran into this 2 min. vid that shows exactly the kind of behaviour you can expect from true and fair racers.
It happened back in the days when downforce wasn't affected by cars in front of you thanks to moveable skirts and the cars had huge tyres (1979), in a circuit with character, fast sweeping corners and bends where true drivers made the difference, like just a few nowadays (Dijon) and between a driver that went straight to F1 driver's nirvana (Villeneuve) and another that was never known for not pushing as hard as he could (Arnoux).
There is a particular situation where Arnoux is in the inside of the corner and Villeneuve tries to close the door from outside, just letting him the minimal amount of space that etiquette imposes. When you look at it the first time, it seems no one is coming out of that corner, that they'll gonna crash or spin out. Not this guys, that respect one another and are true racers, and Villeneuve just throws the towel in the last moment. Sadly, I can't see such respect nowadays...

P.S.: Just admire the way Villeneuve, with a Ferrari that seems to be slower in the straight just pushes that braking point to the absolute limit. It is an ode to true racers, like his son, Montoya or Alesi...
