Honda RA109

Post

Racecar Engineering has a nice article on the Honda RA109 that both would and would not turn into the Brawn BGP001. Quite an interesting read

Interesting article, the demise of Honda and the emergence of Brawn is fascinating.

I think I have a rear wing plane from one of the Honda contenders for 2009 http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =6&t=13604

Honda RA109 uncovered

Post

Found a magical article on the Honda RA109, which was continuously developed through 2009 despite Honda withdrawing and Brawn going a different update route with the BGP001. Some bizarre nose appendages in the mix of photos.

Fascinating that this car appears so different to the BGP001

Can definately see the same nose and FW (particularly the wavy pillars) design that Bruno Senna had trialled on the RA108 in post season testing.

I started a thread about the still.born epsilon euskadi 2010 f1 car. They were well advanced in their design. I definitely think it would've been faster than any of the new teams were in 2010

What I found interresting about the car was it's(huge) similarities with the RA107 on the sideopods and rear bodywork, certainly when the RA108 shares virtually no similarities whatsoever.

The battery in the nose was novel. I wonder why Honda jettisoned the idea of lower mass in favour of this?

rear wings are smaller than ever with the new regs. looks pretty bad ass when matched with the older wide rear wing.

Oh my, what a beautiful article.
