Here's another shot where you can see what I think it the most interesting aspect of the new wing: the flat scoop.

Without the spoon kind of shape and with that middle slot it kind of reminds the little box Ferrari and Sauber were using in 2005.

I think they also put gurney flaps at the end of the last plane
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Very aggresive, should suit the Barcelona circuit well.

I really like it. I think it's going to improve their front end traction quite a bit, it really looks like it's going to redirect a lot more air.

The BMW sports extensive changes to both front and rear wings in Barcelona. The front has a completely new main profile - highly curved with a squared spoon shape in the centre (red arrow - previous design in red circle) and a front lip that protrudes slightly upwards. The new design dramatically increases the quantity of airflow passing over the main profile and between the two flaps. And the taller mounting pillars mean the distance between the nose and the wing is now greater, reducing disruption to the airflow. The changes not only raise downforce, but also make for sharper front-end handling, and increase the car's sensitivity to set-up variations - just small changes to the flap angle will now dramatically alter the front-end's behaviour.

I think it looks like BARs old front wing from start of 2005.

In short, too

complicated for my liking, albeit the logic behind the change seems to be solid. I just got so used to the efficient and economical lines of the original design. Some things remain the same, they still have the slot gap in the rearmost profile (a design feature that I like very much and something I hope will be cultivated by many in the future and in many variations) and the fins among the front susp.

The new front wing section is very deep and it's notable that the quite thick front lip protrudes upwards. This is reminscent of some rear wing profiles and I'm still wondering whether part of the reasoning for this feature is in its potential anti-stall characteristic? The adjustment detailing adjacent to the taller mounting pillars seems a bit complicated, too.
