I would be surprised. Even if the Bulls profit from high tire degradation, they are (again) much too slow to overtake or gain places at the start. Ric will loose much time in the first stint behind cars that are slow in the fast corners.Waywardism wrote:I wouldn't be surprised but I'm not expecting it.Juzh wrote:Anyone half-expecting ric to somehow somewhere end up in front of vet come end of the race? Wouldnt surprise me one bit.
Surge? Actually he will get at least one place at the start due to the incredible starting performance of the Mercs and another one due to the superior downforce at village. Button will wave him by like in Austria and Vettel will be gone with DRS in lap 3...this Q means nothing for Lewis.Waywardism wrote: I'd expect the McLarens to drop back and Lewis to surge forward.
I think it was just plain dumb luck, not a mistake.Shrieker wrote:What a huge mistake by Lewis. Luck played it's part in the sense that I've never seen a track section dry so rapidly but others grabbed the chance by being there for it. Hamilton just wasn't.
It was clearly a mistake, Rosberg said he felt from the lap before that the final sector was getting quicker. Lewis has even said that he realised he made a mistake aborting the lap.foxmulder_ms wrote:I think it was just plain dumb luck, not a mistake.Shrieker wrote:What a huge mistake by Lewis. Except Lewis probably would have gone quicker on the final run, even with the poor sector 1 time. On that basis they wouldn't have had any grounds to "tell him off" because they asked him only to move over if he couldn't go quicker.myurr wrote:Unless the team then tell you off. If you're stuck behind a car who is also on a timed lap then it's tough luck.
On what are you basing this? Nothing?Diesel wrote: Except Lewis probably would have gone quicker on the final run, even with the poor sector 1 time. On that basis they wouldn't have had any grounds to "tell him off" because they asked him only to move over if he couldn't go quicker.
Track position? He lost a second on Rosberg in the first stint. I think Lewis can read the distance in the mirror...it was quite clear for him, that even if he beats his former time, he will be beaten by Rosberg who just had to pass the finish line in a gap lower than a second.Diesel wrote: Regardless of how Lewis felt about the lap, he should have maintained track position, he can always just say "Sorry". He's not ruthless enough, whereas Rosberg has proven he'll do what's needed to get the results.
The final sector was quicker, that's where everyone made the time up. At the point where Lewis aborted the lap it didn't look like anyone was going quicker, but when they all got to sector 3 then made up lots of time because it had dried out massively.basti313 wrote:On what are you basing this? Ah, thank you. Did not see this.Diesel wrote: The final sector was quicker, that's where everyone made the time up. At the point where Lewis aborted the lap it didn't look like anyone was going quicker, but when they all got to sector 3 then made up lots of time because it had dried out massively.
So preventing everyone behind you from achieving something if you are on a bad lap is the new form of british sportsmanship? Or should we call him the sportsman of the year because he did not?Diesel wrote: Track position would have meant he could have controlled Rosberg's lap to a certain extent. He might not have out qualified his team mate, but he most definitely would have prevented him from getting pole.
This is just plain wrong. Rosberg was one second behind on the start line and right in the diffusor already before the straight when Lewis lifted off. It was just a horrible start of the lap with a heavy lockup, maybe because of cold tires from cruising to much in the warm up lap.Diesel wrote: Also, he was a second down in S1 because he lifted off on the straight.
Nico did it in Monaco, and I'm sure he would do it again. Lewis can play the straight arrow if he wants, but there's no trophy for that at the end of the year. I wouldn't worry though, I'm sure we will read all about it in Lewis's BBC column, or in next weeks tweetsbasti313 wrote:So preventing everyone behind you from achieving something if you are on a bad lap is the new form of british sportsmanship? It's here:-JimClarkFan wrote:^Yes, I seen Rosbergs pole lap, Rosberg was much that Lewis in the first sector even before he lifted off. Rosberg would have been on pole regardless of whether Lewis finished the lap I suspect. Irrespective, Lewis threw away a couple of positions today I feel.
Yes...but they only mean that we will have no fight between them at the start. Not more.JimClarkFan wrote:Irrespective, Lewis threw away a couple of positions today I feel.
Ok...knew it would be useless to discuss with youDiesel wrote: Nico did it in Monaco, and I'm sure he would do it again.
