Comparing apples and bananas, that doesn't work so easy (track, temp, tires, down/drag ration, torque vs. power ration, all meh characteristics like roll, pich stiffness and CofG). For that statement we need evident proves? Do you had such credible information or simulation to support your theory (except peak ~HP numbers)?Saribro wrote:Race-mode Formula-E is 180bhp.
Clio Renaultsport 200 is 197bhp.
Add some rain, early days in the development life of the car,... Maybe 15 seconds isn't all that odd?
The great thing about FE, it doesn't need to promote itself as a 'speed' series. It's not. It's about 100% electric racing - however fast that is. So we should try to keep that in mind.mrluke wrote:Help me out here, are these testing times on the National Circuit? That would make Formula E 15 seconds slower than the clio cup?
Im very much hoping to be wrong here..
Yes, it is the same.... only that you´re comparing a lap with the track wet and a lap with the track dry....mrluke wrote:Help me out here, are these testing times on the National Circuit? That would make Formula E 15 seconds slower than the clio cup?

Actually, 180bhp in race mode, and 270bhp in power modeMOWOG wrote:Here's a series where electric racers are as fast or faster than their piston engine rivals. http://evsr.net/
Keep in mind that in the first season, the motors in FE are limited to 180 hp, rising to 200 hp during short "push to pass" situations.

Not quite. 20 years ago there was this:Andres125sx wrote:...it´s first electric single seater competition ever.
I disagree. It isn't about speed. Even the website fails to mention 'speed' as a core concept.Andres125sx wrote:Cam wrote:The great thing about FE, it doesn't need to promote itself as a 'speed' series. It's not. It's about 100% electric racing - however fast that is.![]()

It´s not a "speed" series?![]()
It is. It´s not that fast because it´s first electric single seater competition ever. People always want to compare with ICEs, but ICEs have been evolving for more than 50 years, while electric setups for racing are something completely new, no experience at all with motors, batteries, electronic speed controllers, battery managment units or even wiring.
FE is positioning itself as a 'show', not a speed fest. The Championship centres around three core values of Energy, Environment and Entertainment and is a fusion of engineering, technology, sport, science, design, music and entertainment - all combining to drive the change towards an electric future.
It's actually smart to do this, unlike F1, which does promote 'speed' as it's single core focus, yet always backs away from it. FE can forge its own path and hopefully, people will like it. Being honest with the consumer base, is a good first start.Delivering a great show both on and off the track is central to the FIA Formula E Championship. With the aid of the latest technology, each event promises to be a fantastic spectacle from close racing and crowd interaction to paddock attractions and exhilarating music concerts...
