Piston movement in shock absorber

Post

Hi guys,

I really need help with help with this one. Does anybody have any idea of what the maximum frequency of a piston in a shock absorber of a forumula 1 car is?
What do i mean: How many times does the piston (in a shock absorber) move up and down, past the reference point, in one second. The reference point is defined as the point where the piston sits when the car is stationery.

Please if anyone can give me some idea. I would guess about 50Hz.

Thanks

Not sure if this would help:
If there is a F1 game similar to GTR then you could d/l a hot lap and check the telemetary, maybe find some screen shots of the telemetry or something.
Dont dream it, do it.

I'm not that deep into tech stuff, but there's nothing in the telemetry that says 'piston' so, tell me where to have a look in telemetry and I will

- Damper velocitiers?
- Front/rear ride hight?
- Susp. travel?

I don't have good physics for 2006-7 season's so I'd better use a car from 2004 or 2005 if u don't mind and get it a run at the current Barcelona layout. Then I can make a screenshot from the telemetry :D

modbaraban>>Thank you so much - that would be great! 2004/5 is fine - i just need some idea. With regards to your question - i would say susp travel but could also be damping velocities.

Thanks so much again!!!
really appreciate it

thanks also to appex

Flav generously gave me a bit of running time with the old school R25 today so...

Felipe, eat this: 1:19.954 :P V10 rocks

Damper Velocity:

Suspension Travel:

I hope this helps

PS: Really hate the new chicane... how could they ruin such a great sequense of last few corners

PPS: and now it's clear that it doesn't help overtaking (just as I thought)

thanks ver much Den!!

With regards to the suspension travel graphs: the x-axis - is that time?

Also, what is max, ave and min on the suspension travel graphs.

Thanks again -this really helps.

It is distance for all graphs, I believe.

I'm not sure what the measurements mean and are they in absolute or just relative values... The only thing I got from this is that the downspikes indicate bump while the upspikes indicate rebound (full at 0). Min, Avg and Max shows these values (bump and rebound peaks and average value) of the current selection (I selected the whole lap).

Any chance you can give me the link to that game o download?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Hey Den,
Could you give me the full name of the program you used to generate those graphs

thanks

This is a freeware telemetry tool used for working with *.lap and *.spt files generated by F1 Challenge 99-02 game.

It's called "Findthelimit Telemetry v.1.2.2". You can download it from here and then I can upload the *.lap file with the data, so u can check it by yourself.

me too. I just use their telemetry as it's better than default. :P :)
