Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

You mean the ones under the bulkhead? looks like the inside of the front wing pillar out of focus in the background.

The monkey seat is pretty. Looks like it could flex slightly at speed

I think nose is different than the one used in previous races

Compared to this, we can see they make the gap bigger between the pylons. Likewise, they did it in W03 and W02

*Edit: this pic does indeed show 4 element turning vanes. This also backs up the theory of a reshaped nose.

It also seems like the uppermost front wing element seems a lot more vertical than it has been in previous races.

It looks like it could be new but I'll reserve judgement until I see it in motion tomorrow.

I think it's just an access panel from elsewhere on the car that has been put there whilst whatever is behind the panel is worked on.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It appears the new DRS element on the main wing will leave a larger gap between itself and the main plane due to its shape in essence being inverted U shapes (the upper edge trailing edge is concave to the trailing edge of the main plane). I believe this could yield a greater effectiveness for their DRS system.
