So I think both could have avoided this accident. ROS by braking when he realized HAM wasn't going to let him stay there, and HAM by not closing the door this hard on a car that is alongside him at a higher speed. For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the front wing of the car attempting to pass is alongside the rear wheel of the car in front this will be deemed to be a 'significant portion'.
Will Magnussen vs Raikkonen in Malaysia do?NathanOlder wrote:So how many recent examples have we got of people getting penalties for giving someone a puncture ?
Yes! And with all that lack of power...Juzh wrote:Red bull actually holding back merc and williams on the straights. That's something to behold.
Please watch Anthony Davidson doing a review of the incident and he clearly showed that Lewis was right on the racing line and to get to overtake through a corner, the chasing car has to be alongside and not keeping the tip of front wing to the rear wheel.NTS wrote:Not a Mercedes fan of either side, but I think the pictures of the point ROS hit HAM are a bit misleading. Take a look at where he was going into that corner:

The rules have a definition about being alongside, which is:So I think both could have avoided this accident. But I really don't mind if they keep doing this. Would make the last races of the championship much more exciting to watch if Ricciardo manages to close the points-gap.
This is what you get when you have idiots running a team.RZS10 wrote:Why? The team already said they won't accept anything from the drivers that hurts the team (or gives worse results) ... so it is not really silly...Pierce89 wrote:That's the silliest thing I've read here, and that takes some doing.RZS10 wrote:I just wonder if there will be any consequences for Rosberg for robbing the team of a possible 1-2
Without the contact they would have had a 1/2 can't say who would have won though
"Unacceptable [...] Overtaking on the second lap of a very Long race [...] overtaking with the knife between your teeth" - Wolff
"Unacceptable, he [Lewis] does not have eyes in the back of his head, he [Rosberg] already lost that corner, he has no right to stick his wing in there [...] this is ridiculous" - Lauda
The stewards thought different, and I bet they know better.vall wrote:on ROS-HAM accident I thnk it qas 100% ROS fault. Sould have gotten a drive-tru at least. Then there was MAG and ALO and I think MAG did not leave enough space
Lauda is well known for loving to create controversy, nothing new.ScottB wrote:Lauda also saying it was unacceptable from Nico.
Thanks, Youtube link somewhere? And the picture clearly shows that he was alongside (check the rules, wing was way past the rear wheels). That's why I posted it, other shots show it as "keeping the tip of front wing to the rear wheel" which isn't the whole truth.prince wrote:Please watch Anthony Davidson doing a review of the incident and he clearly showed that Lewis was right on the racing line and to get to overtake through a corner, the chasing car has to be alongside and not keeping the tip of front wing to the rear wheel.
Really? Do you happen to see that he needs to turn right in order to get around the next corner?dans79 wrote:Pretty Damning photo for Nico.SectorOne wrote: http://i.imgur.com/s7HqLj5.jpg
