Racing incident, IMO, but in any case they got the publicity they needed. This will be in every sport newsreel all over the world.
The racing reminded me of F3 cars, that is , racing cars after all, so not too bad. They get a thumbs up from me.

But weren't they supposed to stream it for free? It wasn't that difficult to find the race anyways, but my ducth is not that good and apparently quite pixelated. That's not what going for maximum exposure looks like in my book.

First improvement to bring for race 2: big fat numbers in the nose. Was there any way to distinguish the cars from the same team other than the drivers' helmets?

Well I found the racing boring. It seemed so slow for a large single seater and the whole thing about switching cars because the other one has gone flat is laughable. Rather than showing electric cars as fast and sexy they just proved the point that they are slow and have no range. 12 laps at a moderate pace and thats it, gone.

Totally agree with stefan_, instead partially agree with hollus.

From my personal point of view the move comes to late for being a difensive move, like trying to take the inside position for the upcoming curve and especially watching it live it was to early for being considered the right curve approach.

Anyway you(hollus) are right when you said that they got the publicity they needed at least for this episode a lot of people will talk about this totally new series!!!

Then I want to propose a question, maybe stupid, but I find more stupid in a racing world in which the safety is become the driving parameter, still using this turtle kerb intead of the classical flexible pylons. IMHO a pylons ripped off and laying on the ground is much less dangerous than a "ramp" that makes car flying!!

If there is already a section where the topic is kerb vs pylons I missed it at all sorry

I´m so glad about Heidfeld... when crashed I thought he could have died, watching his car hitting the barrier with the upper side was not a nice picture. Watching replays the car didn´t crash exactly at the upper side, but live it was not so easy to see, his helmet was not too far from being the first part to suffer the impact, that would have been dramatic

It was a relief watching him jumping out the car with no injuries at all =D>

About the incident, what did Prost watching his right mirror? There was no space there, and that´s the outside, no driver will try to overtake at that side if there´s space at the inside. When he realiced Nick was at his left he tried to close the door... too late obviously. He deserve a penalty for next race IMO, he caused a crash very easy to avoid


The race itself.... well, they´re slow, sure, but I think the worst part was the track. Only slow corners with short straights. I can´t remind any other track so boring. For those willing to compare with F1, do you imagine an F1 race here? We´d have seen no overtakings at all. It was a fun race considering the track

I´m happy to watch it live at Energy, but they put Serrano as main commentator... One of his gems, FE sound is based on Star Wars

I fell asleep before the race started! But yeah, got to see some replays. What a surprising ending! The two Nicks meet up at the last corner in the most unexpected way.... Is it safe to have Prost driving in the next race? That was pretty much a novice mistake not to keep your eyes on the inside line.

Still looks pretty point and squirt to me, no fast corners. Anyone would think thy are trying to hide that these things have poor downforce. The sad thing is that they seem to have no acceleration either.

I guess it must not be easy to find fast corners into a city, but turns 8, 9, and 11 are not slow. And braking for turn 12 looks fun. Probably not best track out there, but compared to this one from first race...

About acceleration, what did you expect from 200hp? They do 0-100 kmh under 3 seconds, very good for that power actually

About energy recovered when braking.... telemetry data on TV showed they´re recovering up to 140KW when braking, same power they use acccelerating...

Anyone knows what are the real numbers? I´m curious about how much energy they recover

I really enjoyed the race. Yes, the formation lap was daft and they should probably race from cold next time. Yes, the cars were slow, but with just 28kwh and 13 laps to complete, would it ever be anything else? There is a very good reason why the course was slow and tight. It was to reduce the energy required for competition. Doing the same distance at an average of 100mph isn't feasible. What's important about this series is that its not about absolute performance, but about competition. The top 7 cars were covered by a few seconds near the end of the race. The racing was pretty fierce and the cars moved around in the corners, locking up on the way in, which was dramatic.

The final corner incident was not a good end though. Heidfeld should have won and Prost was the only man to blame for that. I'd expect to see some form of punishment from that.

They are so slow, heavy and with little mileage that they should start recovering from the front brakes, too. This way they could choose between lasting longer or enable the full power for the race.
