Why do you think it is to blame? The way I understand SC (together with medical car) was deployed AFTER Bianchi's crash.
i think that is the problem. We've seen Safety Cars for smaller incidents before. There was a crashed car and a recovery truck on the track. Enough reason to deploy the safety car immediately. Let alone there were marshalls on the track and the track was slippery.

But it easy to say that in hindsight

Such an incident could have already happened with MSC or Montoya back in 2003. The fact that I still remember it clearly shows how dangerous such a situation is.

Apparently they used the jaws of life to extricate him so come cockpit damage may be due to extrication rather than impact.

He should've called in the SC immediately after Sutil's crash... It baffled me when i saw the race carry on... In that corner, in increasing rain it's asking for trouble not bringing the SC... My initial worry was some other car hitting Sutil's car but worse happened...

They got away with it in Germany...oddly, it was Sutil again who crashed..and when people said it was irresponsible to not have the safety car out, they got bitched at

IMO they should deploy the SC in any situation where there is a crane or any other vehicle working on the track..and if it is by any means "reachable" by other (crashing ) car.

I agree, especially under such condition. perhaps this will be something which they will implement for future race.

Then again, if they deploy SC, hamilton race could be compromised and Charlie will be accused of sabotaging Hamilton's race

That damage to the headrest (lower part of front airbox) is not looking good. Might have been done during the extration otherwise really bad.

Sutil's car was 10 seconds from being out of the way. Double waved yellows is standard procedure, Sutil was out the car, so it was no different to any other crash.

Maybe his rain meter didn't reach the SC level yet.

It's easy for people to have 20/20 vision with hindsight.

Those same people pointing fingers at CW would be the same ones complaining at starting under the SC or the many times CW has deployed the SC in the past.
