Would Introducing Closed Cockpits Improve Drafting/Toe?

Would Introducing Closed Cockpits Improve Drafting/Toe?

I was thinking about how introducing closed cockpits on Formula One cars may affect the aerodynamics of the cars. If a closed cockpit was introduced, would the air flowing over the top of the closed cockpit reduce the effectiveness of the rear wing, and would a closed cockpit create a larger "hole" in the air, thereby improving drafting from a following car?

And by toe I meant tow, obviously.

Nope. You can safely expect the opposite. A closed canopy will significantly clean up the messy airflow around the open Cockpit area and thereby increase speed of the longitudinal airflow towards the rear wing.
The direct Impact on 'drafting' will still be rather minimal, though, but if anything it would ever so slightly reduce the 'draft'. It would probably clean it up to some extent, since rear wings with lower AoA could be used and this would also have a bigger (negative) effect on drafting than the measure itself.

Why would you want to improve drafting with F1 cars? What is needed to improve the racing is a spec aero configuration that makes the cars much less sensitive to aerodynamic changes.

As for an enclosed driver compartment, just imagine how incredibly hot it would be for the drivers at many of the summer races. They would get cooked.

Another spec racing class? No thanks we have enough of those. Point 2, I am fairly sure that all of the other drivers at other racing series have worked out the driver cooling passages and stuff. If implemented in F1 I don't see why that couldn't be the same.
