Häkkinen returns!

Post

Häkkinen is considering a return to F1! He is planning to test on williams in mid-summer, and if his pace is still there he's considering a return! This was on a finnish news paper and on this website(for those who know finnish):

http://www.mtv3.fi/uutiset/kotimaa/koti ... /05/217888

The planned return would happen on year 2005

Err..it's in Finnish....can't read it.
Th possibility of this is highly unlikely. He has officially announced his retirement in 2002.I don't think a big money deal can tempt him back and Williams don't even offer big money deals.

don't forget that many great drivers have made comebacks after spending years out of F1, people like niki lauda, who retired 1979 and returned 1982 and won wchampionship 1984. Prost quit formula 1991, but 1993 he won world championship. And dont forget that fangio was 46 when he won his last championship. Häkkinen is only 35. I don't see it as impossible that he would like to get back behind th wheel. After all, he hasnät started anything new, like a f1 team, or some other business, he's just lazying around. So maby he'd wanät some action in his life again. I don't know, maybe I'm just overoptimistic and patriotik, but I'd love to see him come around and kick schumi's ass again.
btw the same news was also on german newspapers, so it probably isn't all made up..

it is not impossible but a finn site writing it and nobody else is just too much reason for me to believ it is a publicity stunt.
we all want him back even with 8 kgs more :)
personally though i would not want him back in a williams because i have the sneaky suspicion that williams is losing it. something like BAR or even ferrari would be great. all we want is someone to bring the fight to the master

well, actually the same news was on auto motor & sport, as some other magazines i think, so there probably is some truth to it. Though häkkinen said today on the same site that he isn't planning a return, but that we might see him in other jobs in the F1 soon. This naturally means absolutely nothing, since montoya denied his mclaren rumours for months too untill the contract was publicised, and the same goes on with ralf & toyota. I guess we won't know for shure until later this year.
Btw the finnish newspaper that released the rumour was the same that was the first to write about Häkkisen retirenment, so i suppose they do get some reliable inside information of some sort.

I'm starting to be more and more convinced that häkkinen indeed is thinking about coming back. I just watched sporting news, on finnish tv, häkkinen was driving a race on a porche series. when asked about his return, he's never just written it off with a smile saing the rumours are just ridiciculous, but insted he is very serious and careful of his every word. btw he won the race with flying colors, dominating the race from the first corner to the finish, winning with a secure gap. So that should show the people who think he's lost his pace. And also he has lost his weight significantly in the last months, which would suggest him getting into F1 shape. We'll see...

A journalist asked some people at Williams about a test. They replied "We would love to have him at your fishing club" So I am not so sure how serious they take that test...... :?

well i guess that depends on who you ask. I'm shure a guy who is working part time washing the machanics' dishes wouldn't know a swut about the driver decisions. I think the only people that really know are those people at the wery top, häkkinen's manager and häkkinen himself. But like it has been said a million times, we won't know for shure until williams announces their next season's drivers. Till then everything is possible.

I dunno about Hakkinen, he said he doesn't want to give 110 percent anymore. Villeneuve... maybe for a test publicity stunt, but I like his chances more. But both people were the only ones who could take it to limit with MS and beat him. I miss 98 and 99...

I wish there was more speculation about Nick Heidfeld and Gimmi Bruni. They drive for "crap" teams but have some serious skills; if they went to waste that'd be terrible.

Frank Williams has rumouredly offered häkkinen 10 million for next season. Häkkinen naturally denies. His ex manager Keke Rosberg has confirmed that F.W has been in contact with Häkkinen. :-k
These rumours just wont die down, so I think there might be some truth to it after all.
Btw, häkkinen certainly hasn't given up driving. He's been driving in different kinds of competiotions through out the year, always winning, and it wasn't no exception yesterday when he drove cart, winning both starts.
Se he can still drive, but will he come back? I hope he will
