about "Kimi-vision": That ain't actually that far from the truth for a race car driver who can experience high speeds and the accompanying forces for sustained amounts of time. If I remember it right, some time ago IRL drivers started to black out en masse on a particularly tight-cornered oval that had been renovated to be even faster. The organisers had to cancel the event altogether.
First there is the effect of the speed on perception ... sensory overload restricts the amount of observable events and information in peripheral vision is mostly disregarded, a sort of psychological tunnel vision. Second, if there is a recurring and sustained sideways lateral acceleration that could produce physiological variations of g-LOC symptoms. Sight is affected first because of the intraocular pressure (grey-out), followed by neural tunnel vision when parts of the brain continue to experience lack of oxygen.
It'd be both funny and scary at the same time if you had grey-out on one eye and red-out on the other at the same time! Don't know if that's possible, though.
