Red Bull RB10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I agreed the 2 stages Point, the front wing itself should be built with 2 different materials so that can dodge the rules on the flexibility of winglets. The rules stated that the entire front wing cannot flex beyond a certain cm under a certain load. But now they just going to flex a part of the wing. Therefore , I assume that the wing made from different materials. That's all my assumption correct me if I'm wrong. :P

It certainly doesn't have to be made of two different materials to bend non-uniformly, especially when the one material is carbon fiber.

In this case it was a mechanical peice. A fake wing bracket with fake adjuster screw that has some flex. Aparently the redbull moving flap is a drag reduction device. At low speeds angle of attack is high, at high speeds when the drag penalty is significant the air pushes the flap and the spring progessively and gently moves the flap into a lower angle of attack..

remember Monza?

Horner was quick to call this front wing a "Brazil wing" to deflect further suspicions... But i have a feeling this mechanism was ther from Monza.. The bulls were unusually fast there...

Yeah I remember Monza, their wings were just about the smallest of any cars.

Are there any pictures of the wing at speed next to the wing in the pits?

Why do they have a slit at the very end of the engine cover?

You can see it just to the right and left of the radiatior visible in the holes.
