Mclaren MP4-29H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The McLaren PR quoted above says it was a data issue?
Several places have reported it as a fuel/data issue. I assume it's an issue with a fuel sensor or a software issue of some type, as that's the only thing that I can think of that would kill the engine.

That engine sounds mean! Is it just me or does that sound 1000x better than the current engines?

That engine sounds awesome on that YouTube clip! There's a lovely whirring noise right at the start of the acceleration phase, will probably be the MGU-K or H. Sounds sweet.

To the members who are turning their noses up at the honda engine compared to the Mercedes engine for initial test days- honda are well ahead comparative to Mercedes of last year, did Mercedes run a V6 turbo hybrid at the end of season test? COULD they have run a V6 hybrid at the end of last season? No. Martin brundle said over the Abu Dhabi weekend that Christmas leave was cancelled at Brixworth because they were panicking about the engine.

Honda and mclaren are doing just fine.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

Maybe, but also maybe not, the ers is mostly under braking the engine might actually sound like. It doesn't have that jet fighter like quality yet but first sounds are good.

The engine sound will be castrated by the FOM feed same as all the other engines.

I think he is referring to ERS, not KERS. So, if the engine is loud, ERS isn't doing a very good job.

So everyone remembers the Red Bull t-tray fiasco. Scarbs had a detailed proposal Here and there is a thread on it Here. OmniCorse did a pretty good write up on the flexible t-tray Here.

All of the above will be wasted when F1T reverts to the 2.4 V8s in 2016, mark my words.

to run alongside the 1.6T hybrids with a equivalency formula; they might as well do it for next year

Eric Boullier has just said the problem keeping McLaren in the garage is electrical but "completely unknown"

Thus, no running before lunch [-o<
