Highly probable Honda will have built upon the Mercedes PU. They'll of course have differences in order to squeeze more out of it, but if they can just run a modified mp4-29 it is already telling how little differs.Blackout wrote:Has Mclaren already built a different gearbox and modified the MP4-29 monocoque? if yes, that means they spent a huge amount of money and that they are very swift. If no, that means the Honda PU has a Merc-like split turbo (because you can't mount a classic turbo in the original 2014 Gbox) and very simlar dimensions (compressor, Batteries etc)
From what I understand, the mounting bolt dia and postions for both engine / monocoque and gearbox / engine are fixed dimensions per the FIA regs for all manufacturers . Does this not make basic engine and gearbox mountings "interchangeable" - excluding any ancilliaries ?Blackout wrote:Has Mclaren already built a different gearbox and modified the MP4-29 monocoque? if yes, that means they spent a huge amount of money and that they are very swift.
