Giving old car parts a new life.

Post

Firstly, hello to you all,
I came across this site last night and ended up spending more time than must be healthy on it :D

I'm trying source F1 bodywork pieces for the purpose of creating my artwork on. It's an idea I have had bouncing around in my head for quite some time now and have tried to find some parts to work on but as I'm sure you all know, the companies selling them aren't exactly affordable. So is there anyone on here that may be able to point me in a better direction?

Cheers chaps

http://f1partsfinder.co.uk/ is pretty good seller who I have used before.

I don't know what you are after, but there are little aero elements there from about 40GBP up to front wings for several 1000GBP.

Many thanks Tim, they are one of the companies I have tried. Unfortunately for what I'm after they are too expensive. I'm looking for large-ish pieces with a flat surface. So wing endplates, front and rear wing, anything with a flat or suitable surface that will take a painting

Perhaps ebay is a better bet...

Consider that even a little endplate would have cost in the region of 5-10k€ to develop and produce once you take into account the design time, CAE analysis, wind tunnel time, testing, composite patterns, mould tools, materials, layup, paint and clave time. Its not something you are going to find for 10€

The work that Paul does might interest some of you.
He uses lots of F1 parts for art projects.

I'm not looking for something for nothing and am aware of the costs involved in the manufacture of these bits and bobs.

I'm aware of Paul, love his work, he's massively talented.........and boy does he know it.
