Mercedes AMG F1 W06 Speculation

@MercedesAMGF1 We're working on Lewis' 2015 helmet at the moment - watch this space! ;-)

Then someone asks if Jason could give a date and the replay is:

@MercedesAMGF1 There's filming being done on 29th so it'll be ready to unveil by then. Some late working nights first though!

So possible we wont see the W06 before the 29th!
Maybe a new design for Lewis then?

It wouldn't surprise me if we don't see it until Jerez tbh, in recent years they have always done that? Apart from when the team became Merc?

But also that doesn't mean it won't be released before the 29th, just Lewis won't need his helmet until the 29th when his driving the car.
So the silverstone shakedown must have been a missed target and/or a red herring then.

Unless, of course, the engine clarification made them reassess their long term plan which meant that the chassis had to be altered to accommodate the 2014 PU.

Interesting.

But can't they introduce a 2015 engine spec 1 and a spec 2 from Barelona onwards, or isn't this allowed?
With all the honda fuss, it's getting confusing now...
Mercedes AMG + Hamilton => dreamteam!
If you can't beat'em, call Masi!

Does someone in this forum have the F1 app and knows if these data are (still) available for the qualifying sessions?
The data (FPs, Qually and race) is still available at the F1 app as we speak. I don't know if I can still reach it when the new season starts.

If I have time this weekend I can have a look for you. Which circuit, corners and drivers are you interested in?
That would be great, thanks for taking the time for this. The best would be to only use dry qualifying sessions and show the data for the best Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari car(and any other car if it is quicker through the timed section).

Corners should be the faster and longer ones, like Parabolica @Monza or Spoon @Suzuka or sections like the esses @Suzuka or COTA or the middle part of the Red Bull Ring, if available. Maybe you should open a new thread for this?!
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Not trying to stir anything here, but can you please point me to a discussion in which it was determined whether ferrari is less powerful than the renault or vice versa.
DisgruntledMarussian for example said this:
DisgruntledMarussian wrote: - engine power output (ICE + MGUH) and efficiency, if not for the Ferrari PU, maybe some estimations of the Merc and Renault one. I'd put it obviously Merc, Renault, Ferrari. But i would guess that the Ferrari might be a little tiny more efficient than the Renault judging by some towards end of race performances where its seem as if the Renault engines had to be tuned down to make fuel.
Then Scarbs said this:
scarbs wrote:It depends on how you define best engine, ferrari certainly didn't have the worst engine. They were ten hp up on Renault but some 40hp down on merc on top end power (figures given to me from an F1 team). Ferrari suffered drivability issues and their ERS probably was the worst, costing them pace in the race as they had to cap it's use.

Quick question: I read somewhere that s-ducts are banned for 2015; does anybody know which part of the new regulation prohibits this (or if, indeed, it is true).

The shakedown sounds more like a red herring/rumour instead of a missed target. Last year they didn't do a shakedown/film day until the end of Jan. The W04 start of Feb. W03 mid feb. W02 start of feb.

This week seems a little early in comparison.

This is my solution to increasing the air flow to the tea tray.

A single pylon with aero dynamic teardrop profile and special guide vanes on the wing tips to help keep the air flow as straight as possible under the nose. This should minimize the low nose deficit.

You could try to have a paper slot in the pylon, making it technically 2 pylons. But yes, you need to have 2 pylons.

Article 3.7.2 mandates two pillars to hold the front wing

Ah yes.. I remember now. Even Caterham's front wing has two mini pylons.
