Force India VJM08 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Perez could have won once. Oh well this last season car was on the more conservative side tho. But given it was the begining of a new era that was a good move. Made them stable the new car should be well developed and best of all for these two drivers. To think that they did so well last season they should be a true force this season..

What baffled me this season is that they didn't have FRIC on there car unlike other competitors they battled with. So I find it surprising that when FRIC got banned they really didn't move forward because of this. I think a lot has to do with the development race of other teams who are financially stronger than FI. Add to that material degradation at the end of the season could have led to a performance drop.
Force India did have FRIC in 2014. They used the data from 2013 to design the 2014 system and the team tested it in Bahrain and used it in two races; Shanghai & Barcelona. They felt their system needed refinement but even still they could have used it in Monaco. They did not use it in Monaco because they were not comfortable with the limits it was setting with respect to the tyres and they didn't want that restriction on them, they wanted to set the car up freely. They were updating their system and making refinements to it and then the FIA banned it.

Perez & Hulkenberg also raced two different designed cars. Yes they looked identical but they were not. One was the original chassis built in the winter(Perez) and the second was a lightweight chassis built specifically for Nico. Nico's chassis required a new homologation and crash test. Both chassis's came from the same mould but the difference was all in the laminate and number of plies used as well as materials used.

Andrew Green said the car's handling characteristics had a lot of room for improvement. I am expecting even better performance from them next year, if not in relative track position, in relative lap time.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Why do people always try to find dirt on VJ and his team? I see no hint of trouble for them, everything looks fine.

Will we see the VJM08 tomorrow as a 3D render? Or will we see the VJM07 with the new livery??

Last year they showed the VJM07 as a 3D render to show off their new livery.

next years car model has already been running there for months.

The worry lies with the car itself which has a major problem and it's looking tight for Jerez

Render seems likely to me. Perhaps with a very generic 2015 nose so as not to give too much away.

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

They said they were going to show the livery mainly so I agree the car will probably be generic. I'm sure we won't see the actual nose till Jerez..

VJ is on trouble for last 3 yrs and that's the time FI made most of the progress. I don't mind if he remains in trouble (not that I want him ) for next 5 years..

Well, i don't think the Forcia India F1 operation 'delay's have anything to do with Vijay's personal affairs,

but this might prove an interesting read;

His will be fine, just media sensatialism. That won't bother Force India one bit. For years the media has been ringing death knells for Force india and low and behold they are still here and kicking.
