Mclaren MP4-30 Honda

Post

This is the official Mclaren car topic. Any discussion about the technical aspects of the car belong here.

Some ground rules:
-Discussion about the car ONLY. Talk about drivers or engineers belongs in the team thread.
-Discussion about sponsors, partnes and livery also belong in the team thread. However, if a technical partner delivers a product that directly goes into the car, then that is allowed here as long it's solely about the car. For instance Shell developing a new lubricant.
-Comparing laptimes belongs in the respective race or test thread.
-Speculation is NOT allowed. Discussion is limited purely to "what you can touch and see", about the psysical parts on the car.
-Moderators can split topics when they see fit.

Any posts failing these simple guidelines will be removed! Repeating offenders will receive action.

I'm repeating again: only technical discussion about the physical aspects of the car is allowed! Thing like livery talk goes here: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =1&t=21323

@MrMocks: You mean the old new front wing? This is the one revealed late last year that everyone said looked like the red bull wing? -no?

Is the rear butterfly suspension still there? - please be gone

It's the Abu Dhabi wing, with some very tiny alterations.

Very sculpted wing pylons, in the line of the williams philosophy.

Very tight coke bottle. Definitely inspired by red bull.

...and the sidepod openings are so small. So there's no heat problems after all! :o

Check out the rear floor cut outs, that's very Red Bull-esque and quite different to other cutouts that we've seen in the past...curved and sculpted similar to the roundness of a tire.
If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari.

I'd say it is the Abu Dhabi wing 1:1. alterations yet to come

edit: will be intersting to see how the wheelbase changed. the huge visible floor space make it look very long

Looks like the rear suspension blockers are still there but only on the lower element, . Top wishbone looks to be as a standard layout.
