Williams FW37 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Pat Symonds told me earlier today that Williams' short nose proved more aerodynamically interesting, despite its increased complexity to get a crash structure into it. He said they did do simulations with longer noses but found short was the way to go for them.

He didn't want to go into specifics (sadly) but he confirmed that it's got to do with the flow structures coming off of the central FW section.

I'm going to guess he is refering to the FW pylon mounts. They were unique last year and similar this year. Symonds mentioned in the press release the FW37, like the 36, was designed for maximum aero efficiency. Others may be hunting more DF?
