Mclaren MP4-30 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I don't see a hole. They wouldn't be allowed there anyway.

Any thoughts on the 'new technologies' line from Ron D?

Probably just big words. I wanted to joke about the new tech being their paint, but apparently it's inside the engine somewhere - maybe it's what is causing the current issues ....OR they managed to pack the 6 tenths Fernando brought into a module

Sounds like they have fixed the same or different issue right at the end of the days again....

I'm sure they'll be first ones out of the blocks tomorrow and rack up 200 laps

the attention to aero on this car, if there are no calibration issues the numbers must be pretty amazing, right from the front brake ducts the deep undercut, tight rear, and the suspensions arms at the rear placed to aid airflow. please get this car to work! please

YASUHISA ARAI - Honda R&D senior managing officer – chief officer of motorspor

“Today was another tricky day, but we feel like we’ve overcome the main issue that affected our running during the first two days of the test.

“Despite our lack of mileage, it’s been a important learning process for our engineers, who’ve really started to develop a close working relationship with everybody at McLaren - that’s a big positive.

“For tomorrow, we’re hopeful that we’ve moved on, and that we can get some more laps completed.”

Is it just me or is that safety light now looking suspiciously coanda-exhaust-ramp like?

I know people on tech forum are not big fans of rumors of any kind ,but a really intereting one is circulating in Jerez;
it kinda says Honda PU can produce 900 HP when fully operational.

the info is highly unreaible!

I suppose hot air from the exhaust can not be directed toward the safety light surface, so they use cold air from the top of the engine cover to create downforce, same as Red Bull is doing.

Don't you think so?

Great pics!! =D>

Could well be reflections, but I'm sure we'll see an S duct on that car before Australia.

Looks like there is a covered version of the upper outlet in a couple of those pics.
