Red Bull RB11 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Darn that is an amazing amount of rake in these regs. What's this like compared to last year?

Guys, no fantasy liveries in the car topic please. That belongs in the team thread: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... 15&t=21197. Unless your livery suggestions gives the car a higher top speed, more downforce or creates vortices, it does not belong here.

For the record, aesthetic discussion about the current confusing livery belongs in the team thread too. Only if it hampers you from figuring out a particular shape of the car, you can mention it (and only mention it, don't make it the main subject).

Have those titanium blocks underneath the cars been approved for 2015? I thought they where only testing some different things to bring the sparks back. Not sure if this has already been approved?

And that's really a serious amount of rake on that Red Bull. Does this improve the downforce from the airflow underneath the car? Or just worsen it?

It increases the angle of attack of the diffuser, making it bigger as it is, but also make it much more vulnerable for messy airflow going underneath the floor. The trick is being able to close the sides of the floor with vortices. It seems Red Bull has that very much handled.
