more interesting for me is the flow that goes across of the 'Red Bull' marking, over the side of the cockpit and past Ricciardo's head, is that normal or due to the new shaping of their nose, cockpit and maybe camera mounting? id love to see a wider shot with the full nose in

It seems entirely reasonable to me that you'd want to set up a flow structure to take fast air up above the side pods, so that the side pods can bring it back down and to the diffuser. McLaren's U-pods were almost entirely designed around strengthening that effect.

I've been looking at the rear of the RB11 compared to the RB10. Some people have been discussing how the cooling exits and exhausts had been moved: George-Jung said that it looked as though the exhaust was much lower this year than last; djos replied suggesting that it was the cooling exits which had been raised, allowing more airflow to the diffuser (making the exhaust look lower).

I think it may be a combination of both. Here's a couple of images to explain *disclaimer: I realise the angles at which the picture is taken is important and can lead to confusion, however I think these are comparable*.

Here the distance between the top of the exhaust and the rear wing is shown by the red arrow and the relative distance to the cooling exits, indicated by yellow arrows.

Now we can see the difference between the length of red arrows: I do believe the exhaust has been lowered a bit, but this isn't definitive. The cooling exits have definitely been raised (wrt the exhaust) as they are now in line with the bottom of the exhaust.

Last year Red bull also ran this monkey seat set up:

Normal monkey seat mounted on a kinda 'mini beam wing'. I liked this set up last year, it looks like they shaped the crash structure in order to allow for wings both below and above the exhaust exit.

This year they don't have it however, maybe because they don't have space due to a lower exhaust? I don't think they have as much space here as last year (red arrow), but I can't be sure.

Some people are discussing the possibility of exhaust blowing of the light/crash structure; even Richard got in with "EBL is the new EBD" although this may have been tongue in cheek :wink: . Anyone else think this would be a possibility?

German media claims that both Renault teams are hindered to do decent long runs bacause of a "50 cent" metal piece in the waterpump of the ICE that was not rerun through QS after the ICE redesign.

The problem was first found last week in Viry but Renault was not able to send fixed parts to Jerez due to long production cycles.

I guess you change the AoA of the floor due to the loss of downforce at the rear lifting the rear structure up while the front end keeps producing more and more downforce pushing the edge of the floor into the ground.

So i guess whether it´s DRS or no DRS the front of the floor will eventually start hitting the ground given you run it low enough.

And that's really a serious amount of rake on that Red Bull. Does this improve the downforce from the airflow underneath the car? Or just worsen it?
I thought only the bolts are made in titanium. They are supposed to wear about twice as fast. That they are producing sparks is only secondary. At least as far I am remembering hearing from last years broadcast somewhere around Austria.

It has been approved for 2015. Main objective is actually to stop tire punctures believe it or not, but I guess with added sparks they killed 2 birds with 1 stone.

I was just going through some pictures and I have noticed a quite large opening just behind "E" symbol on the engine cover (just in the middle of bull's head). Is that just a part of bodywork that hasn't been fitted correctly or is that a cooling solution of some kind?

The RB's treatment of the bodywork over the spine behind the air box, along with the gap you mention, makes me think that they are running disguised bodywork. I think we might see them turn up at some point with a fairly extreme shrink-wrapped air box spine. The current spine is quite bloated in appearance - something that seems odd coming from a team still influenced by Newey and his passion for tightly fitted aero surfaces.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Just doesn't fit together well. Normal testing problems.
