HP Speculation

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Might it be reliable?

I don't think so.

He is just speculating about what everyone thought was Mercedes horse power last year, he has added what the press speculates has gain this year, also does with the rest, taking of from the Mercedes total what others are missing from last year and what the press speculates have gained. Same with Honda there were a couple of articles speculating about Honda could be just under 20cv under Mercedes power. Basically has gathered all the speculation from all sources and do and article about it.

Hy there, 1st i'm not a native speaker.
2nd this is my 1st post.
3rd i'm reading here for 2 years.

@ Speedweek Andy Cowell tell us the Merc-engine is made to run 1632hp if they have 100% thermal efficiency.
What is this mean? Is this possible? I think 40-50% is the max. For petrol powered engines? That's the question ande here the source.http://www.speedweek.com/formel1/news/6 ... 30-PS.html

Sorry its in german, may the google will help you.

Where is their methodology? Where are their figures and their explanation?
Anyone can say anything and post it as fact or speculation. Without proof (or at least some explanation regarding how they came about their figures) they are worthless.

Speculation on the amount of HP, and then including Honda in that list proves it can't hold any base.
There is not a single person, except very few people within Honda, who know what their current engine is capable of on the dyno. And that may still be quite far off what they'll be able to manage to output when the engine is run at full throttle on track (which hasn't happened yet).
