Mercedes AMG F1 W06

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It's like they are taking a leaf out of Hamiltons book. Focus on being fastest on Sunday. Saturday will generally take care of itself.
One has to think what about track position? How much can track position affect your race pace even if you have the best race pace by far? Other than Monaco, I can't think of a different circuit which could lead to that issue. Fast race pace doesn't guarantee a good Quali pace though.

I believe Mercedes will do Quali runs during the last days of Winter Testing. I believe they have come to certain stage where they have ran enough laps trying to trigger a mechanical defect. By the looks of it, the reliability is certainly not an issue.

That front wing end plate is interesting, The element flicks up compared to down like it did last year.

So, as it could be understood from article ( link below ), Merc ( and Ferrari ) are the shortest cars.
The packaging is really impressive! Mcl has a lot of space at the rear but is longer then.

Well that makes me feel better about my ability to read the regulations with comprehension. I could not figure out how they were legal for life of me. Even when turbof1 found a loophole in the rules, it still seemed to blatantly break one of the other rules (the loophole he found also didn't seem applicable to the long noses of the Ferrari and Toro Rosso).

This car will look so much better with "conventional" camera mounts...

These "abnormal" camera mounts brings me back this horrendous, disgusting, awful thing:

No doubt they will do what Toro Rosso have done and stick them directly infront of one of the suspension members.

What upgrades should we expect for the next test? What we've already seen:

Monkey seat
Flip-up wing by mirrors
Rear wing & rear wing center support

What I'm expecting:

New floor
Minor front wing tweaks
Honda!

I'm expecting revised rear wing endplates, not sure why, just a hunch.

Probably a revised engine cover, maybe tighter hugging at the rear.

Personally, I like the camera mounting as it makes the cars look different.
