So does this mean that SFI is getting rid of its cooling ears around the roll hoop.

Would require enlarging the main intake, I don't see that so probably just haven't fitted the scoops for the "ears" yet.

How many cars where the aero was developed at TRD in cologne were poor? All the Toyota f1 cars, Mclaren mp4 28 and 29 and now VJM08. Can you think of any more? Perhaps there is an issue there

This version of VJM 08 wasn't developed at cologne but at Silverstone, VJM08 B-Specs which is to be
Debuted at Austria is being developed at cologne.
