OK,.. I know we have headed off topic.. but I saw this quote on GPupdate and I smiled a bit.

A small peice on Peire Gasly's reaction to thefirst time driving a formula 1 car...

Gasly, who finished as runner-up to Carlos Sainz Jr. in last year's Formula Renault 3.5 Series, says the biggest difference between the top junior championships and Formula 1 is the power steering.

"For me the power steering is the main difference between Formula Renault 3.5, GP2 and Formula 1 as you don't have it in junior series, it gives you a lot of info about the front grip," he said.

"I had to adapt myself to it as it's really light and I had to work a bit on this, and after all this the braking is really efficient on the Formula 1 car [as well].

I'd be interested to know maximum lateral G forces, as well as their rate of change, compared to other series.

And probably, we won't be seeing these speeds anytime soon again, not before 2017/2018 at the least though.

It is understandable regarding safety. But, to be honest, i'm feeling like the pirelli tires are unsafer with current speeds
rather than the 2010 Bridgestones; The quality of the Bridgestones were outstanding.

Regardless, thats more down to the demands the sport imposes on Pirelli. It's not like they can't make better tires - they're asked to make these tires that go down to the carcass faster then a chinese trojan imitation.

therefor they are keeping away from improving speeds, while in reality, they should increase power,speed,torque etc. so the manufacturers must bring better quality tires.

just have them be 17+" instead of 13", and bring wide rear tires.
add power and boom! go F1!

either way, let's see what Rosberg does in Monaco '15.

I expect Ferrari to go all-out for Vettel to try and get atleast 2nd grid position or even pole during qually.
The benefit of Monaco is overtaking is a lot harder, and it's down to tactics and pit strategy to 'battle'.

I for one would love to see the reds win Monaco. Would be even more awesome if it was Kimi.

Kimi runs good at Monaco but so does Vettel. He hasn't qualified close to Vettel since the year began. 8 tenths down on average. I give him 2 tenths close to Vettel here in Qualy.

I would say that the 2004 cars were the fatest ones. Beautiful cars with V10 engines...

By most standards, the 2004 cars were faster. They hold the lap records at most circuits that have remained unaltered, and even remembering refuelling changes, were also faster in quali.

I know what you're saying, 2010 cars had more downforce, but that's compensated for by v10s. Also Monaco pole in 2011 was better than 2010 btw.

You're right in the sense that this shows 2006 cars were (fractionally) the ultimate best on a single lap round Monaco.

But the lap record is a 1:14.4 in 2004 by Michael Schumacher (which was pretty incredible because same as that year's pole time set on minimum fuel).

Why the obsession with times again, who is selling it as a made up problem now? [Any track changes contributing to times?]:

- 2001 1:17.430, 2008 with fuel 1:15.787, 2010 with engine farts 1:13.826

I don't know how people could watch this snail racing of 1:2x times . On the limit is on the limit in Monaco. Speed is fixable but competitiveness and driver making a difference (on topic on this track) is not. Meanwhile strategy group is working on customer cars and stooge teams, brilliant.

This race will be full of incidents with plenty of safety car moments. Merceden can be beaten here provided they take each other out on the first lap.
