Elelments, not PU as a whole. There are 6 elements ...

ICE - Internal Combustion Engine
TC - Turbo Charger
MGU-H - Motor Generator Unit (Heat)
MGU-K - Motor Generator Unit (Kinetic)
ES - Energy Store
CE - Control Electronics

They can remove the MGU-K from the PU they ran in Monaco and replace it with a upgraded MGU-K.

WE'll see, this is what I think they're doing. MGU-K complete overhaul is 2 tokens.

MCLAREN TO CRASH-TEST SHORT NOSE AHEAD OF AUSTRIA

McLaren on Wednesday confirmed it is bringing a significant package of aerodynamic upgrades to the MP4-30 car in Austria, of which a short nose solution is supposedly heading to the FIA crash test facility.

Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button left Monaco recently expecting the Honda-powered car to struggle on the long straights of Canada this weekend.

But then it emerged the team’s Japanese power unit partner has for the first time in 2015 traded in some in-season ‘tokens’ to bring performance to the turbo V6.

Not only that, Spaniard Alonso flagged a round of significant car upgrades for the Austrian grand prix later in June.

Reports early this week suggested one of the features of the package is a ‘short nose’, which will require mandatory FIA crash-testing before it can be debuted.

A team spokesman told us on Wednesday: “We are aiming to bring aero upgrades to MP4-30 as and where possible, in line with our efforts steadily to make more competitive a still-new car concept that offers a huge amount of development potential."

For Austria, yes, as you suggest, we are expecting to be able to incorporate some aero upgrades, some of which will be visible and some of which will not, but these are still in development and we are not able to share details of them with the media at this time,” he added.

Well even if they use 4 PUs that doesnt mean they wont race until 2016. If the PU is dead they will need a new one and pay the penalty which wont make much of a difference to be honest. So 2015 is a big test year. Lets hope is enough....

So those horizontal lines on the inside and bottom of the rear wing uprights...You think we would actually feel those ? or are we just seeing some material under a clear coat ?

I looked at the shots of FA's car being craned away @ Monaco and I don't see those horizontal lines.

Very interesting shot....2 identical wings only difference is the adjustment. On the 2nd one, the adjustment, just moves the top plane. On the 1st one, the adjustment, moves the top 2 planes.

gonna answer my own Question, the ribs are under a clear coat! One wouldn't feel them when passing your hand over them.

I'd assume these are a consequence of Charlies directive ... the 6N flap deflection test.

I was just thinking it gives them a larger range of adjustment. From what I could see they always ran the single plane adjustment in Monaco. Based on that....I think they'll run the dual plane adjustment in Canada and lower the top 2 planes.
