Red Bull RB11 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

New bodywork? It seems to be tighter at the point where the airbox shape at it's widest point meets the sidepod. Previously there was some horizontal surface at that area, now it just flows into the sidepod side surface.

In that comparison it somehow seems the engine cover got bigger...

That looks like a pretty big reduction in size. Engine cover seems to be wider as well, although that might be an illusion.

Did Renault spend any points this for this weekend?

The back is tighter. It's not wider at the top. It's the relative difference between the top and bottom of the side pod that is giving that impression. It looks like they are really pushing the aero. It's a shame the engine doesn't have much power.

Engine cover is definitely wider, a little like the Mercedes design. The side pod now has a dent in it a la McLaren, I presume to transfer top flow down the sides and into the coke bottle.

I think they are looking for some coanda benefits like Ferrari.

They have also opened up the side pod cooling outlets at the rear.
