Mclaren MP4-30 Honda

They had both adjuster options available to them in Monaco for the first time..

McLaren Honda's reliability problems seem to be never ending. What a shame. No one is expecting them to beat Mercedes or get into Q3 but by now we would have expected better reliability from them if not pace. Problem with Button's gearbox in Practise 1 and now problems with both cars in Practise 3.

Hoping they can fight back in qualifying and race tomorrow.

Sounds like they may have had to change back to the previous spec engine.

At this rate of development, I think this car will continue to struggle to score points this season. It seems to be 2 steps forward 1 step backwards at the moment #- o

A couple of 10ths, Alonso would have been in P12 which he has been expecting all through the weekend. Button's issue is a shame. Overall, Honda seems quite fine considering the specialties of this circuit.

Had Vettel and Massa not suffered their share of problems, Alonso would have been out in Q1 itself. I am not criticizing McLaren because we all know that this is gonna be a tough race for them but reliability issues have been a big headache for the team and frustrating for fans.

With Verstappen's grid penalty, Alonso will start 13th. McLaren will score points tomorrow only if cars ahead hit trouble.

Alonso was 1.9 seconds off Hamilton's pole time so considering it's a power track, it's not too bad especially when compared to the deficit they've had in previous qualifying sessions.

What happened in Q2 ? That last lap was .8 faster than anything else he could do ? I can believe he purposely cut it that close in Q1?

Its hard to stay positive at the moment, but here is something anyways......Alonso said todays engine problems were not down to tokens....they were more to do whit the age of the engins that went a bit over the limit, and second intersting thing i read today is Andrew Benson tweet which said they did somekind of power to track calculation which in short says Mclaren chassis is a match to Ferrari, but the engine is way off.

I was watching qualifying last night (time difference), and saw on board footage of Alonso on the long straight and it showed his speed as just over 332 km/h.

If this is correct, why are we 1.6 sec down ??
