Force India VJM08 Mercedes

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Aren't the slots illegal? IIRC the was a maximum on the number of closed sections or something similar in the rules?

It's incredibly form fitted around the engine.

Isn't there a rule about holes in the nose portion of the bodywork since years ago when Ferrari created their nose that had a large hole in the centre?

The only way that I can think about force India getting around this rule is if they consider the outside of the holes as being part of the front wing supports.

The McLaren P1 inspired them to have two holes on the nose.

If the McLaren is size 0, does that make this size -1? It does look a bit odd, that tightly packaged, and I wonder if there will be heat problems with a cover that small.

It does waist down at the rear very, very tightly, wonder if they'll have seperation issues around the midsection of the sidepods from that?

Revised Force India is “mega – really quick” claims Ocon
Esteban Ocon wrote:“The car was just mega today, really quick. Let’s wait and see at Silverstone but it will probably be a really fast car. The guys are working hard and I think it will pay off.”
Bob Fernely wrote:“The final package includes a new floor and nose and a change of the design of the monocoque to accommodate everything. We did the all the crash testing weeks ago."

All I know is I am buying stock in UB Group now. It's subliminal messages now that everyone can't stop looking at this nose. Can't buy this kind of advertising.

So, fancy nose, RB front wing, Merc engine, and Mclaren rear packaging and the Williams tight rear engine cover.

FI decided they don't like compromises and are having all the good bits. Silverstone is going to be interesting.

It would be amazing if checo and hulk finally got the drive they deserve and it turned out to be with SFI.

As much as i want to see vettel challenge for the title...this car looks exciting.
