Seems like paddy lowe's calling it a 'foreign body' that caused it, not a structural failure, so perhaps we shouldn't rush to blame Pirelli.

In 2013 teams were taking a few liberties with cambers and pressures, so again, you wonder if it was entirely their fault; not to mention that Michelin also caused Indy 2005 by doing something similar.

I don't much like the current tyres but sometimes think Pirelli have been put in a difficult situation.

Mercedes are pretty slow in S1, they better be careful. If they have bad starts and fall back into other cars they might have difficulty overtaking, could also leave them vulnerable at the start if they get away cleanly.

Williams look good through sector 2 and they run with their power down in practise sessions. I think they are up there with Redbull and Ferrari.

Not in FP3 though, that's where Williams usually show their true form.

Yep and both they and red bull are even closer on the mediums (Vettel fastest on the mediums, albeit later in the session) which could be interesting in the race. Will be interesting to see if that's still the case in q1 when everyone's running the mediums, or whether Mercedes turn things up and pull clear even on that tyre.
