I disagree with this in one way. The keen f1 fan knew then that Webber's old school style of driving did not match the Pirrelli tyres and the blown diffuser. Webber was incompatible; he just could not match his style to this unconventional way of driving that Vettel mastered. Yes he was made solid number 2 at certain points of the season, but when they were allowed to fight, the reason why Webber had no response to Vettel was because of technical reasons. That means there was an answer. See early 2012.GPR-A wrote:This year, what has been appalling is the fact that, Nico can see all the data of Lewis, but doesn't understand where Lewis is getting that speed from. 11-1 statistic in qualifying is mayhem and murder, with an average gap of over 3 tenths. If not for the Monaco farce this year, Lewis would be leading by 70 points !!! The new start rules are definitely not going to help Nico who doesn't have the same natural feel for the car to find his own clutch bite point and with all the coaching getting banned, mind you next year it would be even more, Nico is losing out significantly. This is increasingly started to resemble Vettel-Webber situation from 2010 to 2013. For the first time in his career, Lewis has shown such consistency last year in races and he has bettered it this year in qualifying too. Unlike last year, either reliability or the double points farce isn't going to keep the title battle alive. Last year, Lewis started his comeback from Monza, but this year, it's almost over at Monza.

In the case of Nico - as you said - the blonde one found nothing that the dossiers of data can show - nothing about the car! - nothing about the brakes! nothing about the steering, the engine? nope! NOTHING that explains the gap between himself and Lewis in 2015. And that is the big difference. Nico has no answer outside of himself.
I do agree though that we are seeing Lewis ascending to another level of driving.
